Brief description: Hoofdwacht on the Vrijthof. The domicile
of the Officers Association Maastricht. The building was
built in 1738 to replace the old building from 1642 and
renovated in 1773.
Central building of the fortifications of Maastricht, where
the guarding of most important military objects was
arranged.
In this building were settled the Garrison Commander, the
Military council, rooms of the Officers and soldiers of the
guard.
Until 1995 it was the seat of the Regional Military
Commander South/Garrison Commander Maastricht. This
building was recently renovated in 2000 to meet the modern
accommodation standard.
