Brief description:
Kerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouwenbasiliek , or the Basilica Our
Blessed Lady. The oldest parts of this medieval basilica
date from the 11th century. Changes and additions were made
to the basilica in various architectural periods. Both the
western part and the eastern choir are of particular
architectural interest. The Schatkamer or treasure chamber
contains a large number of objects of religious art
including richly embroidered copes, chasubles and the
so-called "Levite Tapestry" of St. Lambertus. He was the
last Bishop of Maastricht and only one, born in the
city.
