Bactrian Camel

Camelus Bactrianus

Date taken: Thursday 24th April 2003 Location: London Zoo, Regents Park, London, NW1 4RY, England.

Latitude: 51.52925 °N, Longitude: 0.15413 °W Map

Brief description: This chap is molting it's coat, hence the scruffy appearance. As the normal habitat of the camel is the deserts of Mongolia, winters are extremely cold whilst the summers are hot, therefore they molt during March.

Due to the ungainly gate, they are often nicknamed "The Ship of the Desert"
