THE FILES BELOW ARE 'ZIPPED', SO IF YOU DON'T HAVE A FILE UN-ZIPPER, GO TO WWW.WINZIP.COM

If you load new sounds into your DX7, the existing sounds will be lost, so make sure you have made back-ups first!  If in doubt, don't risk it!

One of the best known and most recognisable sounds to come from the Yamaha DX7 was the "Rhodes Piano" patch created by Gary Leuenberger in 1984(?).  It was actually called "Fulltines", but in synth folklore, it seemed to adopt the 'Rhodes' name, even though Rhodes purists would protest that it sounded nothing like the Rhodes!!

Despite it's ubiquitous nature in many genres of music from about 1984 right up to the nineties, it is actually quite difficult patch (sound) to track down (it wasn't provided with the DX7 mk1 on either of the two cartridges the DX's were shipped with.

Initially, it was available on one of the 'Gary Leuenberger' commercial Roms.

In 1986/87, it got 'brightened' up a little and was offered as a preset in the DX7IID/FD & S .  Whether you love it or hate it, you couldn't really get away from it!

The Yamaha DX100 (a cheaper, 4-operator FM synth from '85) contains a preset called "Solid Bass".  This sound is a very commonly used bass sound in dance/techno genres.

I have authentically recreated this sound for the DX7.  Click on the link below, to save a bank of DX7 patches to your PC.   The Solid Bass sound is patch 32 in the bank.
