Steve McIntyre's 'Beautiful Seedy' is a body of work redefining common principles that involve us all.

His collection of furniture and other work projects a series of symbolic references that are both visual and viscerally conceptual and delight in removing the borders between function and form. These are structures where steel and skin intermesh and set in play an exuberant discourse on the materials of our society and its obsessive tendencies towards the sexual image.

His work gives shape to the consequences of our world of "pornographic chic" where objects of desire are cynically sexualized and marketed for everything in our lives.

The sexual content of these pieces is therefore explicitly designed to be interactive. Opening and closing a drawer by means of a phallus or a vibrator is a gesture that celebrates at the same time as it ironizes the tenacity of those uncontrollable appetites that surge up from deep within all our hearts.

In these pieces, Steve uses state of the art technology to penetrate our collective fantasies and reproduce them three-dimensionally.

It is in this context that the importance of the act of the live casting should be understood. The casting is the interface of form and function, the necessary counterpart to the finished artwork. It is a moment that implicates both traditional artistic process and innovative technological product in that which is most intimately and beautifully human.

There will be a live casting of a female and male model during the exhibition.
