The Simultaineous Chess event, held at the Sugden Sports Centre in Manchester, and part of this years Mind Sports Olympiad was a great success, and Jonathan Rowson, the Scottish GM, broke the UK record for simultaineous games played, by completing 150 games, of which he lost only 1, to a junior aged about 10 I believe. He conceded 12 draws, and won the remainder in a tough 9 hour marathen event, which finished at about 7pm. About half the players were juniors, and by 4.30pm there was still about 70 games still in progress. A most enjoyable event, which so far has raised about £2000 for the charity appeal
