I worked for North East Lincolnshire Council as a Team Leader - Spatial Intelligence in the Spatial Planning Section of the Environmental Services Directorate. I was the Team Leader of the Spatial Intelligence Team which covered planning land use, general planning related research, street naming and numbering and the Local Land and Property Gazetteer. I have worked in local government (town planning) since 1974. Prior to that I worked for 10 years in the construction industry. I took early retirement from the Council on my 60th Birthday which fell on 12 January 2009.

I shoot at the North East Lincolnshire Target Club (of which I am also the Secretary), North Somercotes Clay Shooting Club and Killingholme Full Bore Club. I shoot .22 rimfire, .357 mag underlever rifle, black powder pistol and .308 rifle. Our Club is affiliated to the Yorkshire Rifle Association and we shoot long range rifle at Strensall MoD ranges, York.

My wife, Marjorie and my eldest son Richard also shoot as a hobby. Marje was an Auxiliary Nurse at Grimsby Neonatal Hospital and retired in August 2008. Richard has a sound recording studio, Blue Lizard Studio, and teaches music technology. Richard lives with his partner, Val. in Cleethorpes. Val is a lovely French girl and has 3 children, Georgina, Lyndford and Jefferson from previous marriages. Lyndford and Jefferson now live in Australia with their dad and Georgina lives with Richard and Val. Andrew is an optical technician. Andrew and his girlfriend Lauren presented us with a grandson, Murry, on 10 June 2004. Another grandson, Archie, came along on 12 April 2006
