Hello and a very warm
welcome to our Club's Web Site. The Club is not a business - it is a private members owned sports club which caters for a number of target shooting disciplines including centre-fire rifles chambered for pistol calibres, rim-fire rifle, long barrelled revolvers, black powder pistol and airguns. Target shooting is a unique and exciting sport which is enjoyed by young and old alike and both sexes can compete on an equal footing. It is an ideal sport for partners to enjoy together and is widely acknowledged as one of the safest sports in the UK. People with physical disabilities may also find the sport an ideal way to participate equally in a sporting activity which does not require high mobility. Our Club welcomes new Probationary Members and for joining details and other information about shooting please have a browse round the Club Pages of our site using the links at the top of the left hand column.
Our purpose-built indoor range has 4 x 25 metre shooting positions and we can shoot at 15 an 10 metres too. The range is approved by the MoD for black powder pistol, .22 rimfire rifle, rifles chambered for pistol ammunition such as the Winchester and Marlin underlever rifles in .357 and .44 calibres and long barrelled revolvers. The continued use of these guns has enabled us to continue shooting competitions based (loosely!) on the much enjoyed and lamented Police Pistol and Service Pistol disciplines as well as Action and Western Rifle competitions. Within our extensive premises we also have another indoor range measuring 6 x 30 metres in which we provide 7 bays for airgun shooting. Our large, centrally heated, bar and lounge area is ideal for relaxing before and after shooting. Government changes to licensing law in 2005 rendered a bar licence prohibitively expensive and the Committee decided to let the Club Registration Certificate lapse in November 2005. Another nice piece of 'people' legislation from New Labour! Normal Club evenings are Mondays and Thursdays from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. and Full Members have access every day.
