
CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP

All applicants for Membership shall give a
minimum of 48 hours notice of their intention to visit The Club.
The above categories are defined as:-
(A) Full Members – Full Members are defined as those Members who have successfully completed the prescribed Probationary period and have passed the Club’s Final Safety Test and have been accepted by the Committee. Full Members may use The Club premises for their normal use subject to the instructions of the Club Chairman or a duly authorised delegate and subject to the rights of The Club as set out in the agreement between The Club and the Ground Landlord and to any powers provided in law to the Police*.
Only Full Members shall have
the right to vote at an EGM or AGM or be elected as a voting member of the
Club's Committee.
Any prospective Full Member shall be elected by the Committee and may cite The Club in connection with a FAC application or renewal.
Full Membership shall include the
Member’s spouse or partner subject to the spouse or partner completing an
application form and being so accepted. If the spouse or partner wishes to
handle firearms or ammunition then that person will be expected to undertake the
probationary training as described in 4(D)(vi) below.
(i) Full Members shall at
all times have the right to record a vote should there be a proposal to alter
the Club’s Rules and Constitution which, with the exception of changes
required in connection with matters relating to licensing requirements, can only
be made at an AGM (or EGM called for that purpose), which must be preceded by 21
days notice including notice of such proposal.
(ii) Full Members shall at all times
use The Club premises with proper regard to the safety of themselves and others
in and around those premises.
(iii) Full Members shall obey all The
Club’s Rules.
(iv) *A lapsed Full Member may be required to undergo the full probation period should they wish to rejoin The Club at a future date.
(v) Persons wishing to become Full Members who are Members of another shooting club and/or are in possession
of a current Firearms Certificate shall be liable to pay, in full, a Joining Fee
in addition to the normal Full Member subscription. The amount of such Joining
Fee shall be determined annually by the Committee. Applicants for Full
Membership will be expected to provide written proof of identity and those not
in possession of a FAC will be expected to provide a suitable written reference
in the form referred to in 4(D)(ii) below.
(B)
Visiting Members - A Visiting Member shall be any person introduced to The
Club by an existing Member in person on any single day, the names of such
Visitors shall be entered into the Visitors Book which shall be kept for that
purpose. Attendance by Visiting Members shall be limited to 2 per Member on any
single day and Visitors shall be limited to not more than 3 visits per year.
Visiting Members so introduced shall be permitted to purchase intoxicating
liquor whilst on The Club premises and will in all respects have the same status
as a Social Member but only for the day. It will be the responsibility of the
Club Member who invites the Visitor to notify a Club official of the visit prior
to the visitor being admitted to The Club premises.
(C)
*Probationary Members - A Probationary Member will be required to:-
(i) supply 2 Official Documents to
prove identity;
(ii) *supply written proof that they
are responsible persons and that their training in firearms will not prove a
danger to Members of the public. This shall be written by a responsible person
who has known the prospective Probationary Member for a minimum of 3 years. The
eligibility of a person to support such an application shall be adjudged solely
by the Committee;
(iii) supply a passport size photo of
themselves for their Probation Card;
(iv) *be sponsored by a Full Club
Member;
(v) pay the set Range Fee on each
visit;
(vi) *serve a probationary period of
not less than 3 months, under the personal supervision of an appointed Range
Officer or a Full Member who holds a FAC., during which time he/she will be
required to visit The Club on a regular basis and through regular training
become proficient in the safe handling of all types and calibres of firearms
that The Club may provide. Having completed the probationary period to the
satisfaction of the Committee he/she may be invited to become a Category B Full
Member. The Club may withdraw the invitation should it not be accepted within a
period of 4 weeks.
(D) *Junior
Members - Junior Members will only be accepted with the written permission
of their parents or guardians who will also be expected to attend the range
prior to their child/children being permitted to handle firearms or ammunition.
Junior Members will undergo a probationary period of 3 months during which they
will be supervised at all times by a Range Officer appointed by the Committee.
The age range for Junior Members will be 14 to 17 whereafter they will be
eligible to apply for Full Membership in the usual manner. Junior Members will
only have access to the range at specified times and under supervision of the
afore-mentioned Range Officer.
(E) Airgun
Members - Airgun Members will be entitled to use The Club's social
facilities and will have access to the ranges for shooting airguns subject to
the instructions of the Chairman or a duly authorised delegate but those persons
shall if they wish to handle firearms or ammunition, and are not already Full
Members, will be bound by the preceding requirements of Probationary Membership.
There will be no additional subscription payable by Full Members wishing to use
this facility.
(F)
*Honorary Members - Honorary Membership may be offered to a person of
suitable merit at the discretion of The Club, but that person shall, if he/she
wishes to handle firearms or ammunition and if not already a Full Member, be
bound by the preceding requirements of Probationary Membership. The position of
Club Solicitor and Club Caretaker shall be official honorary positions.
(G) *Social
Members - Social Members shall be any person who is elected as such and
his/her use of The Club's social facilities shall be restricted to the
bar/lounge, toilet areas and outside facilities as shall from time to time be
made available for such purposes.
(H) *Guest
Members - Guest Members may, on signing the register and payment of the
current range fee, use The Club's facilities. A Guest Member shall prove full
current Membership of another shooting club or fall within the definition of a
'Guest' under the Firearms Acts. They shall obey The Club Rules at all times and
may be required to prove their competence in safe gun handling. Where
applicable, Guest Members will be expected to produce their FACs for inspection
if required to do so by a Club official. The number of such visits may be
limited by The Club. Guest Members falling within this category may possess a
firearm and ammunition on The Club premises under the constant supervision of an
appointed Range Officer. Guest Members shall be permitted to purchase
intoxicating liquor whilst on The Club's premises.
(i) The number of visits by Guest
Members shall not exceed that limited by the Firearms Acts
(ii) It will be the responsibility of
the Club Member who invites the Guest to notify a Club official of the visit
prior to the Guest being admitted to The Club premises.
(iii) *Where applicable, the Police
shall be given reasonable notice of 'Guest' visits by the Chairman or Secretary.
(I) Lifetime
Full Membership shall be awarded to any Full Member who, in the opinion of
the Committee, has made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of the
Club and/or has paid the required lifetime membership fee.
All categories of Member shall,
(i) have the duty to notify the
Secretary of any change of their address;
(ii) obey all of The Club Rules;
(iii) remain in the category in which
he/she has joined until officially transferred.
No category of Member shall, by their
actions or inactions outside or on The Club premises, do anything to bring the
reputation of The Club into disrepute. In case of any doubt they shall
immediately contact the Chairman in an emergency or otherwise in writing.
Acceptance of Membership of whatever
category shall entail full acceptance of The Club's Rules and Constitution, the
interpretation of which shall be the sole prerogative of the Committee and shall
not be open to challenge in any way by any Member. All Members will be deemed to
have read and understood The Club's Rules and Constitution.
