Nottingham Caesars Hall of Fame
After several weeks of voting, the first 3 Caesars players have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
They are (in no particular order):
DEAN CAUTHORNE
MARCUS RILEY
STEVE BOSELEY
Read about them below, and also read about their fellow 2004 nominees.
| Dean Cauthorne | One hell of a big DE. Played a long time for both the Hoods and then represented the Caesars from the mid 90's. Dean had the ability to make it look like he was getting blocked, then just reach out and grab a RB ith one arm |
| Danny Francis | Also played a big part in the Hoods success, and moved to the Caesars in the mid 90's to team up with Dean to form a fierce pass rush combo. Also an extremely tough runner. Made the #33 shirt infamous. |
| Baz Brown | Made famous the saying 'Aargh!! Me shoulder, man!!". Baz was another aquisition from the Hoods (who, coincidentaly, turned out a hell of a lot of quality players), who played as linebacker, probably best remember by those that knew him as the man that got the whole team to crawl over the field during a game to look for a contact lens. |
| Neil Burnside | For me, at least, Neil was the prototype defensive back. Also playing at the Hoods before moving to the Caesars, Neil frequently led the team in interceptions, as well as turning in stunning performances at wide receiver and running back. Very knowledgeable about the game, Neil was happy to help others in their game. |
| Lee Terrington | Yet another Hoods old boy (you see the pattern?) Lee was also one of the original Caesars junior players back when the club started in 1985. Lee went on to play offensive line at the highest level, then continued his high standards of play when he moved to the Caesars in the mid 90's, and helped make the offensive line that much better. |
| Zane Gibson | Zane started life as a junior player for the Caesars before making the move to the senior game, and the Caesars in the mid 90's. Zane has featured as a linebacker, a tight end, and even running back on occasion, but is best known for his time spent on the offensive line where he earned the respect of his team mates. |
| Paul Tomlinson | Paul featured at running back very early in the life of the Caesars senior team, but very quickly established himself as one of the top running backs in the league at the time. Although he was relatively small, his speed and elusiveness more than made up for this. |
| Marcus Riley | No one had more nicknames than Marcus, and for that alone he deserves to be here. One very tough linebacker, Marcus anchored the middle of the defense, and was ruthless in his pursuit of QB's. Surely it was a sad day when Marcus retired. |
| Gary Sharpe | One more Hoods old boy, Gary led by example on the defensive line, anchoring the middle of the line. Not the biggest lineman ever, but boy could this man hit! |
| Steve Boseley | With the Caesars since 1985, spent a few years with the Hoods before returning to the Caesars as a defensive back. Still holding the Caesars record for most interceptions in a season, Steve finished his career with a few seasons as a WR, then wrapped up with a year as QB |
