Position Descriptions[BACK]

Quarterback (QB)

  • The QB is the captain of the offense.

  • The QB calls the offensive plays.

  • The QB stands behind the centre (C) and receives the football, in what is called a 'snap'

  • The QB has the option to either hand the football off to a running back (RB) or pass the ball downfield to a wide receiver (WR)

Centre (C)

  • The centre snaps the ball to the QB. A snap is when the centre tosses the ball between his / her legs to the QB.

  • After the snap, the centre can run out for a pass.

Wide Receiver (WR)

  • The wide receiver is responsible for catching passes from the QB and running with the ball.

  • The WR can also take a handoff.

  • There are up to 3 WR's on offense

Running Back (RB)

  • The RB stands behind the QB or next to the QB and is responsible for taking handoffs from the QB and running with the ball.  RB's can also catch passes.

Defensive Backs (DB)

  • All defensive positions in NFL Flag Football are called Defensive Backs

  • The DB is responsible for stopping the players on offense and trying to intercept or gain posession of the football

  • The DB tries to pull the flag of the player with the football
