Assignment of Contract for Work, No. 12 Swansea, Mr. John Sharpe (with consent of the South Wales Railway Company) to Mr. Robert Sharpe
1. Indenture between (1) John Sharpe of Rockfield House, near Neath, Glamorgan, (2) The South Wales Railway Company and (3) Robert Sharpe, late of Newton Abbot, now of Hewelsfield Court, Gloucs.
2. Original contract for £49,000 had been made 3rd Feb 1848, and had been signed by John Sharpe and Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
3. John Sharpe had commenced with the work, made some progress and received some payments on account.
4. The contractor was bound to complete the line by the specified date, by the penal sum of
£500.
5. John Sharpe signed over all rights to and benefits from the contract to Robert Sharpe.
