1. Indenture made 25th July 1849, between (a) John Sharpe, contractor, of Devon, (b) The South Wales Railway Company and (c) Robert Sharpe of Newton Abbot, Devon
2. Original indenture signed 31st October 1846
3. Chain stake in the ground near the west side of the canal in the parish of Neath, Glamorgan, (numbered 68 on the plan), to a stake chain near the west side of the road in the parish of Cadoxton, Glamorgan, (numbered 108), a distance of two miles and seven chains.
4. Contract value £35,860
5. John had commenced works, made some progress and received some payments.
6. Robert Sharpe, along with James & Edward Sidney, of Bedminster, Somerset, factors and builders, as his sureties in the penal sum of
£5000.
