Madam,

We are instructed by His Excellency the Baron de Maua to inform you that he has paid off a mortgage for £3000 dated the 8th of May 1866 and made between Wm. John Sharpe of Victoria Street, Westminster, Esqr., of the one part and Charles Tahourdin of the same place Esqr. of the other part being a mortgage of Beulah Spa Villa and the appurtanancy at Norwood in the County of Surrey (subject to a mortgage to you dated 29th October 1862 for securing £3500 and interest) to W. Tahourdin for securing £3000 and interest.

We are also desired to inform you that the Baron has also advance Mr. Wm. John Sharpe a further sum of £2000 on the security of the said premises.

We shall feel obliged by your informing us how much is due to you for principal interest and costs and whether you are prepared to receive the same at once.
