Last Will & Testament Robert Dowie of Liverpool, Shipmaster 1st June 1799
This is the last will and testament of me Robert Dowie of Liverpool in the county of Lancaster shipmaster. I give unto my executor herein after named his executors and administrators the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds
Upon trust to pay and apply the interest thereof unto my Father and Mother George Dowie and Jane Dowie during their joint lives and to the survivor of them during his or her life and from and after the decease of the survivor of them then I do hereby give and bequeath the said principal sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds unto and to be equally divided between and amongst my Brothers and Sisters William Dowie, Christian Dowie, Mary Dowie, Jannet Dowie and Katherine Dowie or such of them as shall be living and the lawful Child and Children then living of such of them as shall be then dead equally share and share alike the Child or Children of my deceased Brother or Sister to take the share which his, her or their parent would have taken if living equally.
And as to all my real Estates and the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate of what nature or kind so ever and where so ever I give, devise and bequeath the same unto my dear wife Elizabeth Dowie her heirs, executors and administrators to and for her and their own use and benefit for ever.
And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint George Brown of Liverpool aforesaid Taylor sole executor of this my will.
In witness whereof I the said Robert Dowie have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Ninety nine.
Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Robert Dowie as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereinto subscribed our names as witnesses at his request in his presence and in the presence of one another.
The twenty seventh Day of June 1800 George Brown the Sole Executor within named was sworn in common Form, before me, Henry Barton, Surrogate.
Value of Effects above three Hundred Pounds and under six Hundred Pounds
