From his baptism in 1780 in Newburgh, Scotland, to his death in Wigan, England in 1851.  The mythical family traditions about Hercules "Warborn" Dowie - and the historical truth that's in them.

Transcriptions of surviving documents which I have found which relate to this branch of the Dowie family.   There are also some copies of sections of the original papers.

Descendants

Hercules  had at least fifteen grand-children,  and at least thirteen great grand-children.  Mainly through the Shuttleworth line, over a hundred direct line descendants can be traced, across England, Germany and the United States.
