Young Chef District Competition - 2011
Youth Activities is a key aspect of our Club. Convenor Rob Wilkinson explains some of our current activities.

In 2010/2011, we have organised various events to engage, interest and inspire the youngsters in the Eastwood Community. These include:
Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

Organiser - Lisa Kahlen. Date of visit (approx) February each year
The trip to Strasboug to visit the European Parliament was awarded to Lucy Devlin from Mearns Castle High School who submitted the winning essay and impressed the judges at her assessment evening.
The visit took place on the weekend of 19thFebruary 2010.
Organiser - Peter Daniels; 25th May, 2011 at Eaglesham Primary School
No fewer than 13 Primary Schools took part this year the winners, with a fantastic 50 points, were earns Primary School.

The 2011 Winner was Brandon Doherty of Williamwood High School, Second: Chloe Marshall of St.Lukes High School and Third: Cameron Shaw Mearns Castle HS

Winner of the instrumental competition was Diana Sheach of Eastwood High School
Young Photographer Competition
Organiser - Don Campbell; March to April 2011.
The competition took place on 14th April with entries judged by members of Eastwood Photographic Club. Our picture shows the winner, Rachel Ross, being presented with her winners certificate and trophy by Eastwood Rotary's Don Campbell.
Organiser - Alastair Denholm. On Thursday 16th June, 2011 at Williamwood Golf Club
This year's event, on a beautiful sunny day at Willimwood Golf Course, was won by Belmont House School with Eastwood High second and Mearns Castle third. Our picture shows President Iain BArr presented the Rotary Quaich to the winning team.
Organiser - Main competition organised by Barrhead Rotary Club and supported by Eastwood with Rob Wilkinson acting as one of the judges.
Our local event took place on 17th February 2011, and was won by St Luke's High School in Barrhead.Past District Governor Drew Hughes attended as did local MSP Ken McIntosh who presented the prizes.
