Hospital needs a multi-storey car park says Paul West
Ipswich Hospital needs a multi-storey car park. That was the only point on which most people could agree after the borough council’s recent decision to put some yellow lines down on parts of the Australia estate.

The Hospital Trust’s failure to provide sufficient parking on its site and Ipswich council’s past failure to press for it are the main reasons that residential roads have become a free car park in recent years.

If visitors to a private business had caused the overspill parking then action would have been taken long ago to insist that the offending business found a solution to prevent neighbouring residential areas being blighted in this way.

So when will Ipswich Hospital Trust announce plans for a multi-storey car park to address the lack of parking facilities at the Heath Road site? – that is the question that still needs to be answered.

May I invite a hospital spokesperson through your pages to explain when such a plan will be brought forward.
