Paul West, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Ipswich, has hit out today at the way in which Tony Blairs government uses spin to disguise its failure to provide real reform within the NHS. He accused Labour of failing patients and failing Ipswich, as the government announced plans to allow two mobile operating theatres to operate on a private basis within the NHS.
Chris Mole supports the introduction of private operating theatres in the NHS, but does not seem to have thought through how the failure to provide real reform has let down the people of Ipswich.
Paul says What the NHS needs is real reform, along the lines of the Patients passport, where the money follows the patient. Gimmicks such as these mobile units are just that more government spin, designed to hide their lack of action. We have seen a 40% increase in money going into the NHS, with only 5% more activity coming out. This is just not good enough its another example of how Tony Blair and Chris Mole are failing the people of Ipswich.
