This game
was a visual orgasm for a neutral, a nightmare for those who
study the art of defending. Fantana came
flying out of the blocks with Dave Day and Danny G causing
them all sorts of problems down the flanks. Fantana took the
lead following a top drawer delivery from Terry Prati – the
ball ricocheted off of a Rangers defender and into the back
of the net. Fantana then seemed to lose their way and East
Ham Rangers found their way not only back into the game, but
into the lead. Sloppy defending gifted Rangers two goals –
Something that RCF supremo Bradley Micallef will want to
work on in training.
Racing
went in to the break tied as Darren Waithe struck a
leveller. Stephen Clarke was introduced at half time and
coupled with a change of formation RCF tore into the fragile
East Ham defence. With some really excellent flowing
football, the goals began to roll in – Ercan Fikret, Danny
G, Ross Hunt (2), Dave Day and another from Darren Waithe.
East Ham Rangers replied a couple of times - 2 excellent
strikes from the substitute mountain of a man.
Fantana
have racked up 8 points from there opening 4 games. Not a
bad start for a team promoted 2 divisions. I caught up with
Racing Club Manager Bradley Micallef to ask him a few
questions about his teams start to the season;
OC: Are
you pleased with 8 points from 4 games?
BM: I
would rather have 12. We should have 12. We created enough
in our first two games, but paid the price for sloppy
finishing. It now looks as though we’ve found our range and
have started to finish the impressive moves we’ve been
creating.
OC: Have
there been any players you’ve been impressed with?
BM: Yes
definitely. Daniel Giemanjer (The G-Spot) has been
exceptional. He has proved a more than capable replaced for
Chris Maskell. Darren Waithe in the middle of the park has
been impressive as always with Ercan Fikret and Akash
Bhuwanee sharing the right back spot and both doing an
excellent job. Terry Prati is growing into the centre back
role. His distribution for a defender is second to none. I
think it’s only right I mention Adrian Dobrin too. He’s had
a good start.
OC: You
have a big squad – Are you keeping everybody happy?
BM: I’m
trying. It’s all I can do.
OC: What
are your realistic aims for the end of the season?
BM: To be
challenging for the title come March and competing for the
Divisional Cup. Having a secretary who doesn’t know his ar$e
from his elbow has stopped us being entered into any other
competitions.
Listen,
I’ve got to shoot off Oli. Got to see a man about a dog.
