Managers Notes

21st July 2005 - Pre-season training has been going for 6 weeks now. We started early so we could try and raise the fitness of the boys to an acceptable level. The cross country running has proved a big hit with the squad, plus there have been a few welcome surprises. Simon Field has showed me his desire to recapture the form of 3 or 4 years ago with some committed performances in training.

Nigel and I have had a few more players join the playing staff in recent weeks. Daniel Micallef, Jon Howard and Stephen Dawes have joined on free transfers. Russell Leiter and David Sack move across from the Maccabi League with Darren Salmon joining from Major League soccer in the States. A major coup is that of Demetrious Barkigozglu. He has a decorated semi-professional career behind him and is sure to set the Corinthian League alight when he joins our training camp once his driving ban is over.

Tempting players to join a newly established club hasn’t proved as difficult as first anticipated. The nucleus of the squad was already there, but word of mouth and reputation has brought in new young blood who are keen to impress.

In the last few days I have been busy organising Pre-season friendlies. The full list of fixtures will be available once they have been confirmed with the relevant parties. One exclusive I can reveal is that we will be touring the Turkish Island of Cyprus. A close friend and fellow manager Michael Yerosimou has invited RCF to enter the ‘KURD CUP’. It is a four team tournament being held at the end of August and promises to be a decent test before the season starts.

Before I sign off, I would like congratulate a few people. Firstly, my best wishes go to Danny Micallef as he is marrying his long term Girlfriend Lucy on the 30th July. Good luck fella. Hope it all goes well.

Secondly, I would like to announce on behalf of Peter Pedonimou that he and his girlfriend and live in lover Carla are 4 months pregnant. Once again, best wishes on behalf of everyone connected with Racing Club Fantana.

My third and final announcement is that one of the clubs longest serving players Rikki Prati is now having a sexual relationship (please note – not emotional relationship) with an unnamed party. I think you’ve proved a few people wrong – I for one was not convinced that silly dancing, groping and screaming wildly into females ears was the way to go. Well done mate, it’s been a long time coming, so keep up the good work.

Time to go, but remember – keep that ball on the deck,

The Gaffer
