Despite the slow down in education spending because of the latest Government policies, we have still managed to keep a full order book with the following contracts being won:
Education
Bury College - Woodbury Centre
Refurbishment of existing Hairdressing unit and Beauty Therapy unit totalling £1, 250, 000.
Audenshaw High School
Yet more projects to add to the Sports Hall Extension: A four changing room extension to the Sixth Form centre and a new Science Laboratory totalling £600, 000.
Education
Cafe Uno
We hope to commence work on converting first and second floors above this property into apartments. This may well become the first of many and totals £550, 000.
Builder Center, Cadishead
Final negotiations are taking place for the construction of a new Office and Storage facility at the above, together with a total refurbishment of the existing yard and storage facility totalling £500, 000.
March 2004
A very busy summer is expected with the following contracts started or about to start.
Blue Coats School, Oldham
New Sports Hall and major adaptations, total value £2.8 million.
St. Cecilia's R. C. High School, Preston
New Sports Hall and laboratory extensions - Total £1 million
Crompton House C. E. High School, Shaw, Oldham
New teaching block worth £1.2 million
Our Lady's R. C. High School, Royton
Extension to 6th Form - £0.7 million
Audenshaw High School
Another expansion involving increasing Sports changing rooms and creating a new dedicated fitness area - £0.4 million
In addition to the above, the following smaller works are about to commence:
Hollymount CP School, All Saints Chorley, St. Josephs Todmorden, Redcliffe Old Folks Home Prestwich & South Bank Hostel Bury. These works total approximately £0.75 million.
Christmas 2003
Following the successful conclusions of major contracts during the last twelve months, the following new work has been successfully obtained:
Blue Coats School, Oldham
The first £1.5 million phase was won shortly before Christmas. Hopefully this will be bolstered by a further two phases totalling another £1.5 million.
St. Cecilia's R. C. High School, Longridge
A new sports hall and technology block totalling £1.1 million is due to start early in the new year.
Our Lady's R. C. High School, Royton
Another contract due to commence on 5th January 2004 is a £700, 000 sixth form extension to follow on from the last £400, 000 extension recently completed.
St. John's Primary School, Kearsley
New classrooms to replace the existing portacabins are due to be commenced in January worth £250, 000.
St. Joseph's R. C. Primary School, Todmorden
Classroom and office extensions to this school have just been started worth £220, 000 and are due for completion in 13 weeks.

Record Number of Contracts Completed for the new School Year
The following contracts have been successfully completed during the recent summer holidays in time for the new school year in September.
Prestwich High School - Toilet Refurbishment - £36 000
St. Bernadettes High School - New Library - £50 000
Holy Cross College - Various Adaptations - £80 000
St. Thomas More School, Denton - New Teaching Block - £230 000
Wardle High School - Adaptations to existing laboratories - £150 000
Audenshaw High School - Curtain Walling and Classroom Extension - £580 000
St. Patricks High School, Eccles - Adaptations - £10 000
Holy Family School, Oldham - Playground Modifications - £50 000
Police Station Upgrades
Negotiations are in progress for giving seven GMP Police Stations a facelift starting in October. The total package is £1.75 million and it is hoped that we will be carrying out a major portion of this work.
Three New School Contracts
The following school contracts have been won and will be starting in the next few weeks.
Gorsefield CP School, Radcliffe - £310 000
Alexander Park CP School, Oldham - £150 000
St. Georges School, Atherton - £110 000

New Apprentice Intake
5 new apprentices have been indentured for the forthcoming September term. This brings the total being trained to 21 at the moment, keeping up the Company's long standing commitment to in house training.
These boys will follow in a long line of trainees who have come up through the ranks to attain various senior positions.
We have two plumbers and a bricklayer, all well into their fifties, who joined as school leavers and have all clocked up more than 30 years working for the company. Some achievement.
New Curtain Walling Contract at Audenshaw High School
In addition to the new four classroom block and girls toilet block, we have just secured a package for new curtain walling and recladding of the Technical block totalling £120 000, to be completed during the summer holidays.
Small Works Contracts
With the school holidays nearly on us, the following small works contracts have been secured, all to be completed before the new term:
Prestwich High School - Toilet Upgrade - £39 000
St. Patricks High School, Eccles - Office Alterations - £20 000
Heaton Park C. P. School - Toilet Modifications - £12 000
St. Bernadette's Primary School - Toilet Modifications and New Library - £50 000
Holy Cross College - Various adaptations - £30 000
7 School Kitchens - General Upgrading - £100 000

Another Phase Secured at St. Monica's High School
In addition to the £1.3 million major redevelopment being completed on time later this month, the following further contracts have been secured since the school were recently awarded their new Languages Special Status.
Extension to Language Block and Classroom adaptations - £200 000
New sewerage pumping station and associated drainage - £75 000
Window replacements - £75 000
Major roof modifications over the language block - £50 000
All of the above schemes have to be completed before the new September term - Watch this space!
Second Contract for the Masefield Group
With work going so well at St. Patrick's Primary School in Rochdale, the school governors and Architect recommended our inclusion on the tender list for a £1.2 million new Hydrotherapy Pool / Classroom extension at the senior school of Wardle High School in Rochdale. Our tender ahs just been accepted and the 26 week programme is due to commence at the end of next month.
Design and Build in Denton
After recently completing a new Sports Hall, changing rooms and computer suite at St. Thomas More RC High School in Denton, a design and build contract worth £250 000for a new learning support unit has just been secured at the school with an anticipated start date on site being May with a tight contract programme of 14 weeks.
