Company History

H H Smith & Sons was founded by Herbert Harold Smith shortly after the Second World War and has gradually developed from humble beginnings through to the present day.

The company was incorporated in 1962. The present chairman, David Smith, joined in 1978 and took over the company on the retirement of his father.

Strong emphasis is placed on family ties and in later years further members of the Smith family have joined, namely Rob, Phil and Matthew. Together with a staff largely made up of long serving employees, the company has developed into a close knit unit serving a wide variety of clients throughout the building industry. It is a tribute to the quality of building and client satisfaction that we have so many repeat customers.

A large proportion of the workforce is employed directly by H H Smith and we are proud of our training record, having many operatives employed for 10 years or more. Indeed, our longest serving have been in direct employment for 32 years, plying their trade since leaving school.
