Kerri Saikin
I'm Kerri Saikin (collegegrl4god) & my mom was diagnosed when I was a senior in high school in April of 2001. I am so proud of my mom because she was able to make it to several awards ceremonies that I had just after her surgery & even to my graduation! Since she was diagnosed I have done MANY breast cancer walks including the Komen Race for the Cure, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, City of Hope: Walk for hope to cure breast cancer, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which is a multi-day walk & is nearly 40 miles long!
A year later in 2002 after my mom's diagnosis with breast cancer I had my own personal scare with breast cancer when I found a lump & had surgery to remove it & thankfully it was benign! I do many walks for breast cancer & I'm very proud to do them. Honestly before my mom was diagnosed I NEVER imagined doing any breast cancer walks but now I do several a year. I also never imagined that I would be as to be bold enough to go bald for kids cancer, but in 2003 I boldly went bald for kids cancer in Camden, MI on March 15, 2003. I was also bold enough to do it again this year, two years in a row to be bold by going bald for kids cancer on March 20, 2004 in Camden, Michigan.
