About DSTW
What is DSTW?

DSTW are the initials for Don'tSayThatWord.  This website was created on the 6th May 2001 by Stephen McClay.  Its sole purpose at that time was to provide information to other people affected by cancer.  At that time I had been searching for a place that was welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative - in order to help me find information and understand the cancers that affected my family.  This is when I got the idea to create a place and aim to provide all the above; so other people would be able to find help alot easier than I did.

Why was it called Don't Say That Word?

It was called Don't Say That Word for a reason.  At the time I was unable to talk to my family about my parents cancers.  I felt as if i hit a brick wall; and everytime the illness arrouse in conversation it was "hush hush - dont say that word" - the word being cancer.  For some reason it made people nervous and this was what I couldn't understand.

Mission

The Mission of this website is to provide necessary and valuable information to those that visit us. We also aim to provide a service where cancer patients and/or their families can talk to each other and offer each other support.

We are so proud to be able to offer this new improved service and especially working along with Yahoo Cancer Chat Members. We are privileged to be able to publish their amazing stories that show courage and strength. The aim of these stories - is to show people personal experience from which the reader should identify with.

We hope by maintaining this page - we can offer each of our visitors peace of mind, knowledge and help. If you have any problems or if you feel certain areas should be improved; feel free to contact us

~~

In January 2001 we started the site from the beginning again.  We are still updating, modifying and implementing new areas to DSTW to this day.  Previously the site had been maintained solely by Stephen McClay (pizzy_boy); In January, Stephen welcomed Joanie to the team (onjay2) and since then we have been working together, adivsing, creating, publishing and maintaining DSTW on a regular basis.

DSTW is an entirely free service - we do not promote any goods and/or services on this site - any advertisements left in our guestbook, guestmap, Prayer Forum, Remembrance Forum or Yahoo Group will be deleted immediately and the IP address of the promoter will be permanently banned from all of our services.
