Family and friends provide vital support for a person with cancer. But they often feel uncertain about what to do, or feel they are not helping enough. There is much you can do, but no magic formula for what it should be.
Everyone has different skills and capabilities. Listening, helping with practical tasks and finding out information can all be very valuable. But it is important not to try and do everything: you need to look after yourself too, so that you can be there when you're needed.
