WE ARE GOING UP, SAY WE ARE GOING UP !

26/04- CTFC STATEMENT FROM CORBY COUNCIL

An official press release from Corby Borough Council’s chief executive Chris Mallender and council leader Cllr.Pat Fawcett this morning:

“We are on the verge of announcing a £1m plus package of ground improvements for The Rockingham Triangle Stadium, which will benefit both Corby Town Football Club and Corby Athletics Club. The improvements, which will be carried out in 2006/07 will provide state of the art spectator, fitness and corporate entertainment facilities. This will be backed by £300,000 of private sector investment.”

“It’s a really exciting time for the clubs, the Council and the Borough. We are encouraging  everyone to get behind Corby Town FC in their promotion push, get down to the Triangle and help us to raise the roof (metaphorically speaking) on Saturday 29th April, Kick Off 3.00pm. Adults £6.00, children £1.00 with OAP and concessions £4.00.”

“Promotion would put Corby Town just one division below Kettering in the football pyramid……. But not for long! The club is committed to achieving Nationwide Conference status within 5 years and as a Council we are backing them all the way!”

Fair play to Corby Council.  Being the biggest town outside of Northampton in the county, this should be reflected in the town's football team, something Mr Mallender has recognised.

Renegade spokesman for disgruntled Steelmen supporters, Archie McShit was unavailable for comment today.  Unofficially though he mumbled something along the lines of "Dunion Out" earlier today.

23/04- AND THEN IT WAS ONE POINT.....

That's all we need.  One point.  But let's get three, and hope that the small town near Corby turn over Boreham Wood.  But let's just concentrate on our own game.  It's getting close...

22/04- UXBRIDGE 0 - 1 STEELMEN

If this season turns out to be a successful one, then people will look back at games like this one: a game where the Steelmen played shite, rode their luck, but ground a result out.  Hallows made sure of the points again from the spot, with Enfield Town not playing and Boreham Wood dropping more points it's looking pretty healthy for us at the moment.  6 clean sheets aren't to be sniffed at either..

17/04- BARTON ROVERS 0 - 3 STEELMEN

Burrows, Byrne, & Holmes all on target for the black and white wizards.  "Same old Steelmen, taking the piss !"  Hang on a minute, do you think we could go automatically, nah surely not.  Could we ?

15/04- STEELMEN 1 - 0 STAMFORD

The importance of this game couldn't be underestimated.  If we were to continue our fine run of form and maintain our pressure this was a game we had to win.  The disaster of the County Cup was firmly behind the Steelmen: no-one could've doubted the team's desire from the very first kick.

Stamford are no mugs, they're not in a play-off position for no reason.  This wasn't going to be a walk in the park.  But time again this season form teams have come to our place and left empty handed.  Early in the second half Hallows put us into the lead from the spot, his confidence back after midweek.  Like any early second half penalty and it's 1-0 lead, it means you're on the back foot.  Stamford applied the pressure but the resilient Steelmen defence were up to it.  Despite some Carry-On-Adding-Time from the ref the final whistle blew to an almighty roar from the stand.  The looks from the players said it all.

It's one of those games where you didn't want to leave the stand after the game.  Fair play to wee Jimmy Krankie Stamford Manager who applauded us as he left the pitch, after some high jinks earlier in the season.  And a healthy bit of banter with the Daniels fans on the way out the ground.  Those retro rattles weren't so loud on the way out !

And a bumper crowd of 407 too, (plus those 20/30-odd that never get included on the attendance)  Great to see, but it should be like this every week.  Frustrating as it is with one game left at home this season the crowds are coming back.  Don't let the long summer put you off coming back after the final game.  The craic never stops..

Back of the Stand:  Seems that the atmosphere generated by the BOTS not only damages the morale of away teams and supporters, but also the sheet metal on the stand itself.  It's naive to think we'll stop making noise, but from now on lets use our hands rather than our feet to generate some noise.  Otherwise it will be Dale's pan lids every other week next year..!

11/04- LOOKS LIKE PROMOTION INSTEAD THEN...

There's a reason we sing, "A STEELMAN 'TIL I DIE".  Bad news, but we're still here.  We always have been.  Through the rough and the smooth.  It doesn't stop.

10/04- CUP FINAL TRANSPORT

In addition to the 52 seater already full for tomorrow's Hillier Cup Final, and due to extra demand a 28 seater bus has also been laid on for extra supporters.  Both buses leave the Triangle tomorrow evening at 6:00.  Anyone wanting to travel on the extra bus (cost £2) should be at the ground just before 6:00 as it will be on a first come first served basis.  There's a number of cars going over too so it looks like there could be a healthy turnout tomorrow night.

04/04- THE GENERAL

Rumour has it Big Dale's passed out with the excitement surrounding tomorrow's big game, so his stunt double 'The General' has penned a few words here..

01/04- STEELMEN 1 - 0 AVELEY

Another hard earned 3 points, Kev Byrne2 scoring the only goal of the game in the first half, setting Corby up for the remainder of the game defending.  Aveley put up a brave fight, and on another day should maybe have taken a little more form this game, but too bad, we need the points.  The push for automatic promotion goes on.

I did hear a bit of grumbling from some Steelmen about the defensive nature of the team following the opener.  Let's remember that for the last 10 years we've done nothing but defend and were still getting humped, so at this stage of the season 3 points is 3 points whatever way we play.

Might have spoke about the other games in the top 6 that day, but I'm not interested: all we've got to do is keep winning.  Bring on Boreham Wood.  The script is set for us Wednesday night.  As before your team needs you, etc, get up there early for a swally.

KINGSWOOD BALL BOYS

Many thanks to Kingswood Juniors Under 7's who were ball boys for the day on Saturday.  They enjoyed their day out and we look forward to seeing them and their parents at the remainder of games this season.  Their manager Dean Morrison dropped us a note:

Just a quick note to say how much the boys from Corby Kingswood Jnrs under 7's enjoyed being ballboys on Saturday 01/04 in the 1-0 win over Aveley.

No one enjoyed it more than my son Kieren Morrison who had the great honour of leading the Steelmen out as mascot

We are now going to attend all the remaining home fixtures as Kieren (hopefully) is one of the next generation of Corby Town Supporters (if not a player).  I can still remember my Grandad taking me to Occupation Road (should never have moved) as a boy and being ballboy some times, then into the club for a coke and bag of crisps.. happy days.

Lets hope the families start going to the Triangle and bring back the good old family support.

Dean Morrison

01/04- HILLIER CUP FINAL UPDATE

From the official site: The date for the NFA Hillier Cup Final between Corby Town and Northampton Spencer has been confirmed.

The match will take place on Tuesday 11 April 2006, at Northampton Spencer's ground, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm.

There will be a supporters coach travelling to the match, with more details available in the near future.

25/03- DARTFORD 1 - 1 STEELMEN

Disco Danny Marlow to the rescue, still in the hunt..  This particular Steelman was in Germany watching Hamburg vs Dortmund and looked a site going crackers in a German pub when I found out we equalised.  Sounded like a good day out after all the vitriol on the forum.  Big Dale's sent an update on the day out..

11/03- STEELMEN 2 - 0 CHATHAM TOWN

What scoring crisis ?  Kev Byrne2 grabs a valuable 3 points in the promotion push.

04/03- AVELEY 3 - 0 STEELMEN

A temporary slip-up, but a costly one.  Especially with Enfield and the bumpkins from Stamford winning.  Nothing less than a win against Chatham is going to do this Saturday.  We had a pretty poor turnout of support this weekend too.  For the run-in this season we're going to have to be the 12th man, so we've got to go the distance too, that second place could still be ours..  your team needs you.

29/02- A must-have for all Scottish Steelmen..

Not exactly football related, but this is the 'must-have' accessory for all those 'North of the Border' and 'pseudo-Jock' Steelmen.. the 'Ayepod'.

28/02- Too scared to talk about it..

It's been noted that the updates to this page have been a bit sparse, we'll do our best to get some more content down soon.  Being that we're in the County Cup Final, within reach of automatic promotion, and looking at our best season in about 20 years, I'm scared to fart nevermind talk..  still, the Big Man's always got something to say.

25/02- WINGATE & FINCHLEY 0 - 3 STEELMEN

Just had a text of the final score, back to winning ways.

16/02- "Steeeeeelmen..  HEY !"

I keep getting asked about the retro song on the tannoy at the Triangle, the famous "Steel Men" by Jimmy Dean, where to get it, for ringtones, etc.  So here it is as an mp3: Jimmy Dean - Steel Men.  Right click and select "Save Target As".

11/02- HARLOW 0 - 0 STEELMEN

A well earned point by all accounts, which could've been 3 had Tattie finished a chance at the end.  Boreham Wood took 3 points off Enfield, going 6 points clear, but we're still in there with a shout.  Can't underestimate the importance of the this season's run in, we've been a long time in the doledrums and the subject of piss taking from even people in our own town.  Get out in force this Saturday for the game against Great Wakering, rally the lads to 3 points, then it's all on for Tuesday night against Boreham Wood away, 'MON THE STEELMEN !

Big Dale's update is here too..

07/02- ROTHWELL 0 - 1 STEELMEN (AET) HILLIER CUP

There it is, the Hillier Cup Final, we made it.  We made hard work of it.  But we made it.  Finalists.  We're there.  We've just got to go out and win the fucking thing now.  Some Steelmen have had nothing to shout about ever, some of us have watched some of the worst CTFC teams in history, but small fry as it might seem to some of the other "well supported" clubs of our County, I'm going to shout from the roof tonight, shout like fuck that my team are in the Hillier Cup Final, and it meant everything to me tonight when the players ran over to us at the stand we habituate at Cecil Street, as I'm sure it did to them, because it's nights like tonight that make being a Steelman all about being a Steelman.  For once I am walking into work tomorrow with that giant EAT SHIT grin on my face, yes, I'm a fucking STEELMAN AND PROUD OF IT.   more to follow..

01/02- THE BIG MAN'S...

..written an update.  Big Dale

28/12 - WIVENHOE 3 - 1 STEELMEN

More to follow..   actually no-one wants to read about this.

25/12 - FRIENDLY AGAINST THURNBY RANGERS

Tonight we have a friendly fixture against Leics Senior League outfit Thurnby Rangers.  Admission is £1, free for U-16s, kick off 7:45.  The bar will also be open for those wanting to watch the Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers match on the big screen.  See you up there..

22/12 - STEELMEN 1 - 0 ENFIELD TOWN

Nothing seems to faze the Super Steelmen at the moment, it was a Corby Town result of old, real grit and determination.  Class act.  Teams that go up grind results out, sometimes with unfashionable football, but the Steelmen were impressive.  Enfield were left in no doubt why we're serious promotion contenders.  The black and white wizards had a job to do and looked up for it from the first kick of the ball.

I was expecting an abandoned match when the ref pulled up with an injury shortly into the first half.  Worse than that I thought the Steelmen might lose their steam following our well worked opener from Disco Danny Marlow.  25 minutes the game was back on, and the Steelmen looked even more up for it.  A few complained about the impartiality of the substitute official from the park game the other side of the ground, being that he was from Corby.  I'd love to know where we were going to get a non-Corby resident official at such short notice.  Their team were happy enough with the sub official until the result was final.

As the game went on the Steelmen pressed hard, but squandered some good chances.  Our finishing leaves a lot to be desired sometimes, 2 goals would've knocked the wind out of Enfield.  They had a couple of chances at the end and should've done better.  They were anxious moments, a couple of goal mouth scrambles, Enfield applied the pressure, but we held on for a deserved 3 points to put us joint top with both Boreham Wood and Enfield themselves, all of us on 51 points.  Still not going to mention the "P" word seriously yet though.  Been a Corby fan too long to start getting excited just yet.

Some of the Enfield fans were a wee bit bitter about the result, but I can't remember Daz Watts having a great deal to do apart from one quality near post save.  A few away fans didn't like what they perceived as Corby's "hoof the ball" style of football.  Not too sure about that.  Truth be told 1-0 flattered them, it could and should've been more what for some poor finishing from the Steelmen.  If I was an ETFC fan I'd be more bothered about the lack of self discipline and composure their players showed.  In short a few of their players made complete pricks out of themselves, and let down the impressive away support that they brought with them.  Fair play to their number 5 who applauded the BOTS as he left the field after his red card for his last man foul on Kev Byrne2.  As for the other fella, he just let his team down being that they were already down to 10 men.  He can have no complaint after throwing a headbutt, whether Danny Marlow made a meal of it or not is academic, he had to go.  I think the Enfield team just turned up expecting to win, and didn't expect Corby to make a game of it.  It might explain why they lost the plot on and off the field, with the management team of Enfield getting involved in a touchline bust up.  You're a fucking braver man than me pal if you want to have a go at Dunny.

Fair play to the Enfield supporters though, they came in numbers and had a healthy swally.  They weren't overly noisy despite the size of support, but they rallied behind their team and on the whole were good lads.  But as many other fans have found though this season, the Steelmen are a noisy bunch, and we don't get out sung on our own turf.  Our repertoire of songs gets bigger and bigger.  Plenty of new faces swelling the ranks at the Back Of The Stand, the wit and banter is as sharp as ever.  It's great to walk into work on a Monday and have people asking how the Steelmen got on, the interest is growing.  More people are going up now, no longer is it a clique or nerdy to watch Corby, the pride is back in our town's football team.  No longer a laughing stock, no more people taking the piss in the pub, people want to be a part of it.  Enjoy it, these are great days to be a Steelman...

"We are the STEELMEN, the SUPER STEELMEN..!"

"I don't want the Madrid job pal..!"

20/12 - INVASION OF ETFC FANS

Rumour has it there's between 60 to 100 Enfield Town fans coming up tomorrow for the game.  So once again let's make plenty of noise and let them know why we've developed a reputation in the league for being boisterous fans.  We can't really on the local rag for publicity so get as many mates as you can up the ground.  A victory tomorrow could be one of those turning points in a season we talk about in years to come..

The site's not been updated for a few days (at least) so the Big Man's got an update here..

COMPETITION TIME: Winner of the best caption for this photo wins a "see you ref, you WHALLOPER" badge.  Send entries here.

14/12 - ARLESEY TOWN 0 - 1 CORBY TOWN

"we just beat you san, and we ain't even that blaady good".  No your not really are you ?  Ring a bell Mr Mong-face Arlesey fan earlier in the season at Rockingham Road ?

07/12 - LEGENDS vs FC TOWN OF CORBY

Prior to "mugging ourselves" against Potters 'small town near Finsbury Park' Bar, a select team of Corby Town legends graced the fledgling supporters team, FC Town of Corby with a friendly 7-a-side fixture.  The legends started the game with Jim Ogilvie, Alan McIlwain, Gary Wood, Elwyn Roberts, PJ Hammill, Sean Diver, Derek '601 Games' Walker, Tony Ferns, and David Gill.  The FC Town of Corby squad included: Dale Campbell, Gordon Kyle, Jeff Hensman, Robbie Dunion, Paul Beattie, Charlie Middleton, Daniel Douglas, Aiden Edgley, Connor Kettle, and Chris McHutchinson.

In a closely contested game, the smooth passing and knowledge of the game wasn't good enough against FCTC's headless chicken ball chasing and premature shooting.  Daniel Douglas came close before Charlie "Mark Falco" Middleton opened the scoring mid way through the 10 minute first half.  FCTC were off to a flying start.

The Legends came back strong in the second half, forcing some reflex cat-like saves from the big man, Big Dale between the sticks.  FCTC were hanging on, and were graced with about 14 players by the end including the present managerial staff, before Robbie "Healy" Dunion Junior, finished the game off in about the 9th minute of stoppage time to make it 2-0.

All thanks to the legends for turning out, lads that have graced the black and white of the Steelmen and done us proud.  Players that some of the junior BOTS wouldn't remember, and some that the senior BOTS followed all over.  Cult like heroes in their own eras.  A great laugh was had by all, and we hope to play again next year.

Many thanks also to everyone who also turned up later that night for the gig by Romirish, class act all round.  There are still some Romirish/CTFC badges available behind the bar for anyone who wants one.  A couple of cameo appearances by Gordon on drums and Dunny on Bodhrun.  I'd love to tell you more about the gig, but the beer monkey got hold of me and forced me to drink too much and sing Corby songs.

03/12 - "Did you see the Telegraph tonight..."

No, because I never read that anti-Corby rag.  Although I did consider reading someone else's to see what that jarhead ginger freak from the ET thought about Corby lad Stuart Campbell scoring against his muppet team on Saturday.  Russian submarine

02/12 - ROTHWELL 0-0 STEELMEN

Read Big Dale's piece on the game over at Rothwell.  Dropped points or a point away from home at local rivals, either way we're still in the hunt.

31/12 - STEELMEN 1-1 ILFORD

Should've been 3 points, we know that and so do Ilford.  Fackin' mugged n'that innit.  Still 4 points over the Christmas period isn't too bad.  We're still in the chase.  The only sour note of the day was the non-responsive reaction of some supporters at the final whistle, for over a year now I haven't heard silence at the final whistle, and there was no excuse for it today.  We're not going to win every game, but let's take stock and look at how far we've come in a year, a year since Glover left.  Not clapping at the end or cheering was a fucking disgrace today.  Remember when we were loosing 4-0 at home to Bromsgrove last year and we made more noise than we ever had in about 10 seasons?  We're going into a local derby next game, the team need the fans behind them.  Hold your head up high, we're still in there fighting, thank fuck we didn't lose because if we'd lost then I dread to imagine if some supporters had started booing.  Political re-education may need to be administered.. (The PAOC are making me write this with a gun to my head...!)

See you at Rothwell, (watch out for that kid with the banjo..)

27/12 - STEELMEN 5-0 BARTON ROVERS

Missed penalty..

1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, 5-0 !

Happy Days !!!

11/12 - BERKO 2-2 STEELMEN

A handful of us braved the bollock-freezing weather to make this one.  And we felt lucky to be coming home with a point.  Not very good in all honesty, and points dropped too with Boreham Wood slipping up.  Still a point away from home at the bottom of the table team is something we'd have probably taken beforehand.  All credit to 'Berko', if they play like that for the rest of the season they will probably stay up.

On the way down we watched Tilley's video highlights from earlier in the season, watching some comedy free kicks, swearing, and the noise we make in the stand.  Fukn hell, is that what we sound like ?!  I pissed my sides at the services though when we arrived the same time as the Bury FC team on their way to Leyton Orient in their white tracksuits.  Oh y'dick, sound n'that..!  Don't think they knew what I was talking about.  Once down there Brian Hardie's straight to the jukebox to put on: Michael Jackson, then Rachel Stevens.  What is it they say about footballers and music taste ?!

First half we were a bit muted, being that there was only five of the hardcore BOTS there, so we never really got any kind of atmosphere going.  We were more entertained with cheering every time a ball went out of the ground or cheering every time a train went past.  We started wandering round to the other side of the ground towards the clubhouse just as they scored.  For fuck's sake.  Could see it coming.  But we hit back straight away through Turner.  HT 1-1.  Get it up ya !

Braced up on a half time ritual of two pints we camped behind the goal, and started singing.  A few bemused looks from the Berko fans when after they went 2-1 up we started singing more.  I was resigned to the fact that we we're going to lose, their keeper playing a blinder, so we focused on taking the piss out of their players and bouncing up and down when up steps Clarkey to level it at 2-2 with 2 minutes left.  We're leaping about like loonies like we'd just won the FA Cup.

So we took a point, which like I say we probably would've been happy with before the game.  It was a good day out, a good swally on the way home, but for one Steelman the day was just a wee bit too much..

noddyland..

See you after Christmas, 'mon the STEELMEN !

Also: Big Dale's latest update here..

09/12 - BERKHAMSTED AWAY

This is our last game before Christmas, the weekend after this we've got no game because Boreham Wood are still in the FA Trophy.  So we won't be home until the 27th against .  So get your arse out of bed Saturday morning and get on the bus at 10:30 at the ground.  To book a seat ring Frank Seymour on

08/12 - MORE SENSATIONAL NEWS FROM BBC SPORT

Right, I promise this is the last one...  BBC Sport Dunion

06/12 - BBC SPORT NEWS

Not going to write anything about the managerial crisis at that shit club near Corby.  Someone beat me to it, fair play..!  BBC Sport Gazza.

04/12 - CORBY TOWN 0 - 0 UXBRIDGE

Shit referee.  Enough said.  Not top anymore but still second.  My nosebleed has stopped.

30/11 - KING'S LYNN AWAY..

The result doesn't matter (we got humped 5-0 but we had 7 players missing..).  We never really expected to win, we were hoping at most to bring the Linnets back to the Triangle for a replay.  It was more about going and having a laugh and making ourselves heard to one of the better supported non-league clubs.  Not so much a cup-final, but more "we're probably gonna get beat, so let's just take the piss."

We nearly never got going, the original bus broke down so we had left late for Norfolk on a bus that looked like it wouldn't make it back.  Broken seats, sticky floors, no key for the toilet, no heating: travel in style.  Turned out we didn't have enough money to pay for the bus, so we started selling the beer we'd brought for the journey back.  With the state of this bucket, we should've been paid for travelling in it.

Still we got there, the arrival at The Walks of a squad of pissed up Steelmen.  Quite how 10 of us managed to jib our way into the ground as club officials is another matter: Wee Dunny and Macca flashed their CTFC Staff IDs - "so are you other chaps with the club ?"  "Yeah mate, we're local press".  A few made the mistake of going to the toilets instead of mingling in the bar, so got thrown out and had to pay to get in.  So it got off to a good start.  Few beers in the clubhouse and then we took position the other side of the ground, near a group of Lynn fans.

There's a wee bit of mutual dislike between ourselves and King's Lynn, so we made ourselves heard straight away, which took the home support by surprise.  A small group of Linnets obviously didn't like this, prompting a bit of 'jock bastard' name calling.  I was a bit disappointed with the home support, they didn't turn out in numbers and only seemed bothered about slagging Burrows off all game.  We like to think we're a witty bunch us Steelmen, so their chant of "where were you when you were shit" to our singing made us laugh.  Here's our team that's 3-0 down and they're insinuating that we're world beaters.  No lads, we're not suggesting we're Madrid, we just have the craic.

Much to the relief of their over-anxious stewards, in the second half their fans camped up behind the goal, we stayed where we were and the more they scored the more we sang:  "Top of the league and we're having a laugh".  It was a little like Bromsgrove last season: 4-0 down and cheering everytime we passed the ball.  There's a bit of truth to it when we sing "We're Steelmen 'til we die".  Dingle came over to us at the end the applaud us, nice touch that.  That's why the man's a legend with the BOTS.  Hardie told us after the game that their manager was laughing at us, calling us mental cases.  That's the intention, we are daft, but we're doing our bit along with the team to put us back on the non league map.  We received a bit of praise for our efforts from some Linnets before it was back on our luxury bus for a few beers on the way home.

We were never going to win the league cup so bollocks to it, we knew that before we left.  Let's concentrate on the league..  'Mon the STEELMEN..!

28/11 - TOP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEARLY 20 YEARS..

The wheels came off with a defeat away at Ilford during the week, but we bounce straight back on Saturday, despite very closely attempting to throw away 3 points down at Waltham Forest.  Having made an arse of things throwing away a 4-1 lead, they pull it back to 4-4, but up steps the big man Dingle, deflection or not who gives a toss, it's 5-4 and 3 more points, it might not last long, Boreham Wood have 2 games in hand, but until this Saturday at least..

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE, SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE !

So for now while we're top however long it lasts, and as editor of this fanzine, here's a big two fingered FUCK OFF from me to all those knobheads of other teams that come on our forum to slag us off.  Put a bit more effort into following your own team rather than watching what we do, and you too one day might be top of the league.

KING'S LYNN BUS: The bus is nearly full but for a handful of places.  Anyone wanting to come along turn up at the Triangle tomorrow night or leave Dale a message on the forum.  For those already coming don't forget, THE BUS LEAVES AT 5:30.

20/11 - TWO POINTS OFF THE TOP..

The Super Steelmen continued their great run of form against tough opposition Harlow on Saturday.  1-0 down the Steelmen impressively clawed their way back into the game to win 2-1.  Despite making hard work of it at the end, the Steelmen were impressive showing real character to take the points.  A win against Ilford on Wednesday would send us top.  Think I just got a nosebleed..

Craic again was second to none.  The BOTS were also graced with the presence of our own Stewart 'Tattie' Marshall, think he enjoyed the entertainment !  Fair play to the Harlow fans for making a bit of noise.  Think they lost their steam a little once we equalised, we didn't hear too much after that.  I'm not sure what was up with their board members (complaining about the behaviour of the BOTS), if they're not used to opposition fans light heartedly taking the piss (out of their Nomadic looking subs) and making a bit of noise, I wouldn't recommend coming up to the Triangle in future.  There was no excessive swearing or even anything overly offensive, so I think they were being a wee bit precious about it all in my opinion.

Give me a 'D' !  Give me an 'eesco' !  What have you got - DEESCO !

18/11 - REDUCED ADMISSION FOR u-16s TOMORROW

Official statement from the club today: "Corby Town FC are to continue supporting young people coming to home games by allowing all children 16 and under entry for only £1.00 for the next two home games."

NEW BADGES: To help get back some of the money I've spent on a new flag, I've knocked up some new badges, like the ones below.

They're a quid each, so give me a shout if you want one.  These four are the first four teams I picked off the top of my head.  I'm getting more done as loads of people at work want them, so if you want one with a team of your choice, for example, Corby Town and Barcelona say, then drop me an email here, and I'll get one made for you.

17/11 - KING'S LYNN BUS

Still places available on the bus for this, but it's filling up quickly.  Book a seat, contact Robbie.  Do it now !

16/11 - A NEW FLAG..

The subject of a new flag's been a hot topic on the forum.  Myself and another BOT are considering taking in a few games at this summer's World Cup, the other BOT being a rabid England fan (myself a Norn Iron fan).  We argued over a flag design, we want to take a Corby flag with us.  So after a healthy debate on the forum we've gone with a CTFC version of this flag.  Hopefully it won't offend too many of the BOTS.  I couldn't bring myself to chip in for a red and white flag with our name on it though, I had to draw the line somewhere.

13/11 - SITTINGBOURNE 1 - 0 CORBY TOWN.

The Steelmen's 9 game unbeaten run comes to an end in Kent at the hands of the Brickies.  The w8nkers..!  Still, that's quite an achievement for the lads, who can remember the last time we went unbeaten that long ?

I didn't make the game, so I had the pleasure of listening to our very own Chuck Middleton's HT and FT reports on BBC Northampton.  The mumbling and stuttering fool !  Only joking, it was more exciting that listening to the Cobblers game.

Dale assumed the role of text update man, and unbiased as the Big Man is (!), we were apparently unlucky to be on the end of a 1-0 defeat.  I had to return the favour for those on the bus back.  With no AM radio I was on text duty for the reporting on the England and Scotland games.

Talking of Chuck he's had an attack of typing tourettes again and done some recent match reports.  Check them out here..

KING'S LYNN AWAY - League Cup 3rd Round 29/11/05:  There's a supporters bus running to this game, another Matlock style swally bus.  It's leaving at 5:30 from the Triangle on the 29th.  The craic to and from Matlock was second to none, so put your name down on the forum, or email Robbie to book a place here.

09/11 - LONG BUCKBY 1 - 5 CORBY TOWN.

A hat-trick from Clarke and one a piece for Holmes and Darby put the super Steelmen into the semi-finals of the County Cup.  Wish I'd have gone now instead of the shite match I watched on telly tonight.  Stop laughing Big Yin.

BIG DALE: The Big Man's back on form, check his latest update here.

08/11 - LEAGUE TEAM OF THE MONTH AWARD

Congratulations to Dunny, his staff (even the Kitman!), and all the players for scooping the GX Soccer Southern League Eastern Team of the Month award for October.  A real talismanic effort, despite the unwarranted label of "boring", "flukey", and "shite" from underneath some stones.  The Steelmen thoroughly deserve this award.  Big pat on the back, kick of the stand, and chant of STEELMEN from all the supporters.  Don't be letting it go to your heads though, there's the small matter of £2000 up for grabs this Saturday..!  If the result goes the right way Mark's buying all the BOTS a carryout, isn't that right Mark..!?

05/11 - SITTINGBOURNE 0 - 0 CORBY TOWN.

Details to follow..

02/11 - CAN WE PLAY YOU EVERY WEEK..

ROTHWELL TOWN 1 - 2 STEELMEN: I don't think I would like to play them every week, we were more than lucky to say the least.  We should've went in at half time more than 1 down.  It was a good finish from the lad Towers to put them in front.  But a Taibi style balls up from their keeper Queilly brought us back into it at the start of the second half.  I even witnessed Key Byrne try to claim the goal in the bar afterwards !  Hardie put us in the lead with a wickedly deflected free kick, and you had to feel sorry for the lad between the posts.  We'd not really troubled him all night, but when your luck's up and all that.

So we're into the next round, and we've beaten our nearest rivals twice in 6 days.  It's not a good thing as being the ever-pessimist (is there any other type of Corby fan ?) so I'm expecting a gubbing off someone soon, but that's just me.  There was a good turn again considering there was Champions League football on, and it was cold enough for your balls to get frostbite.  But bouncing up and down doing the "deeesco" kept us warm.  It's heartening for the older BOTS to see the effort some of the younger lads made to get over there, some off them not knowing how they were getting back.  I think with this young fan base coming through we'll be in good stead for the future.

Also a special word for the 3/4 young Rothwell fans behind the goal, who took a bit of stick from the Corby lads.  They gave it their all but I think we won the battle hands down.  I remember going to watch Corby in similar circumstances getting undeservedly beat and outsung by the away fans, 3 of us trying to get our team going.  Fair play.

YCC - Connor's updated the YCC's page, check it out here.

31/10 - IN CORBY OF ALL PLACES..

Walking up to the ground Saturday I was passed on Willowbrook Road by some young lad in a Kettering top.  Of course I had to make some remark.  I told him that if he wanted people to know he supported the sheep and to save on expensive replica tops, just strap a dildo to your forehead and it'll be obvious to everyone who you follow.

30/10 - DEEE-SCO !

CORBY 1 - 0 WINGATE & FINCHLEY: another 3 points, Boreham Wood slip up, 4 points off the top now with a game in hand.  I didn't think we played at our best, and they squandered a few good chances, but this is the difference this year, that we can grind out results.  It's something that's eluded us in the last few years, the ability to play shite and win.  We had no problem with the playing shite bit.  I don't want to put any kiss of death on it, a top 5 finish was what I was hoping for after an impressive end to last season.  But we're playing well enough to..  no I'm not saying it.  Let's just hope that we're in this rich vein of form after Christmas.  I can't remember when Corby were this far up the table, apart from the start of the season, no games have been played, and there's no team beginning with A or B in the table.

Another good crowd of 196 too, we should have crowds like this at every home match.  There was a time when we'd be disappointed with a crowd just shy of 200.  We'd estimated that we'd maybe get 150 after Wednesday, a few old faces as well as new there on Saturday.  It's our luck that we're not home now for a few weeks now and the interest might die off a little.  So do your bit by encouraging friends, family, the missus, someone else's missus, whoever.  The Junior BOTS have already started their own propaganda campaign, fly posting on telephone boxes, bus shelters, sides of buildings.  I think it would be a bit unprofessional if someone suggested they staple one of their flyers to a local sports journalist's forehead.  Couldn't condone that sort of behaviour.

Good banter as always at the back of the stand.  Chuck and Dale keeping us entertained squabbling with each other.  Drew a few bemused looks from the Wingate board at us having a deee-sco.  They even applauded us on the way out.  At this rate people will be coming to watch us BOTS rather than the team..!

The DEEE-SCO BOTS will be in Rothwell this Tuesday night, watching the mighty Steelmen in the Errea Cup (ko 7:45).  See you there.

CHALLENGE MATCH: the confidence of the management team in recent weeks seems to have gone to their heads.  The Staff/Steelmen Old Boys have foolishly challenged the BOTS 7-a-side team "FC Town of Corby" to a match.  The game is pencilled in for the 19th November (our next home match), k.o. at 2:00 on the pitch before the game.  Keep up to date on the forum, more details to follow soon (that's if they don't wimp out !)

JAMIE CLARKE: 11 mins after scoring for us he managed to score for Enfield against Arlesey too.  What a player.

29/10 - FREE ENTRY FOR UNDER 16s TOMORROW

Children Under 16 will once again enter The Rockingham Triangle for free, for Saturday's league fixture against Wingate & Finchley, if accompanied by a paying adult.

Corby Town Football Club decided to extend the offer for an extra match following the great success of last night's Northants Derby against Rothwell Town, which attracted 405 supporters.

A club spokesman said: "It was excellent last night and it would be great if we could get that many supporters every week, the atmosphere generated was absolutely unbelievable. We hope that everybody enjoyed themselves and will come back again for Saturday's match against Wingate and Finchley."

"Of course we don't expect another crowd of 405, as many people turned up because it was a local derby, however we hope that by continuing this offer we can at least attract 150 to 200 supporters back to watch their local side."

"It is important that the club starts attracting support again, as there is a generation of Corby people who are growing up unaware that their town has a football team."

FROM TONIGHT'S HERALD & POST..

Did anyone else see this in the Post tonight..?

DISGRUNTLED FANS TURN ON DUNION

Disgruntled Corby Town supporters last night turned on manager Rob Dunion and his staff over the Steelmen’s good start to the season.  A hardcore of supporters not happy with winning all the time showered the team with a barrage of abuse after taking 3 points off local rivals Rothwell.

“Dunion and the lads are taking the piss”, said one fan.  “I’m up there to watch us get beat and to moan like fuck.  I’m not used to this good football, so I’ll not be back”.

Others have taken to following other local sides like Rushden & Diamonds in an effort to see abysmal football.  “Get them out” said another supporter, “the sooner they beat it and we start losing again the better”.

Frustrated supporters vented their anger following the talismanic victory over Rothwell.  “I could see it coming” said Archie McShit of Stevie Way.  “When Darby put us one nil up I thought, here we go again.  I don’t know what they think they’re playing at, but the buck stops with the manager.  Dunion’s on borrowed time as far as I’m concerned.”

The players were also in the firing line.  “There was a time when you’d see the Corby players it the Taste of Chilli kebab shop on a Friday night, pissed out of their faces.” said Tam McBampot of Arran Way.  “You'd be expecting to find them sleeping in hedges on Occupation Road the night before a game.  Not this mob though, they seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to be match fit and sober on Saturday afternoons.”

(No longer) long suffering Corby Town supporters feel that Dunion’s style of leadership and results are not in keeping with the culture of previous Corby teams.  In between reminiscing of the days of 4-0 and 5-0 home drubbings in the middle of the season, as well as Corby’s annual fight for relegation, some have now suggested the idea of starting their own break-away team with the working title of FC Town of Corby.

“Being a Corby fan means supporting a shit team” stated McShit “and if those in charge of our club think we’ll just stand here and watch us gub every team in the league, then they’re in for a rude awakening.  We’ll preserve the spirit of shite footy with our own team.”

With plenty of crap footballers and piss artists amongst the hardcore Steelmen support, the idea doesn’t seem so far fetched.

28/10 - GAZZAMANIA

Is anyone as fed-up as I am reading and hearing about this ?  Why don't they just give them the title now, f f s.  There's only one GAZZA in Northants and he plays for us.  End of.

27/10 - E-I-E-I-E-I-O, UP THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE WE GO ! !

"shit ground, no fans..!"

DERBY DAY: Nothing less than a win would've done on our first game back home, and it wasn't going to be easy against "Ro'well".  But Darbs came up trumps for us with a class finish (an early contender for player of the year already ?) .  Had we not got a win there was the danger that complacency could set in after such a good start playing over 'there'.  Vintage it wasn't, but we held on and weathered the storm at the end.  A really professional effort, and 3 very important points against a good side.  Winning games like these could make all the difference at the end of the season.  I'm crap at match reports as I spend most of the game shouting and not paying attention so I'll let Robbie do that on corbytownfc.com, I'll talk about the atmosphere.  There's two words to describe our team at the moment though: shit-hot.

Where to start, the night was brilliant.  There's something a little bit special about midweek fixtures up the Triangle.  I knew it would be good when I turned up and I couldn't get a spot at the back of the stand.  It turned out to be one of the nights we'll talk about in years to come on a coach to Kent some Saturday in December.  One of the matches you'll say "I was there", part of the banter.  I thought it would be hard to match the atmosphere of the fixture the previous season, but we were as good as the black and white wizards on the pitch.  The Rothwell fans took a wee bit of stick (if any where there, I saw two outside the ground) but it was all good natured.  It's nothing personal Bones, we just act up to encourage people to come along the next week.  It was some noise we made from start to finish and when the final whistle went I thought we were going to put the sheeting at the back of the stand out.  The crack with the inflatable sheep was quality, although I think it was starting to piss people off getting hit on the head with it, so Chuck confiscated it from the junior BOTS.  The same Chuck who I thought was going to have a coronary about the Bones management team standing outside their 'Technical Area'.  "We got fined £50 for the same fucking thing"  ALRIGHT, ffs man !  I also think we must have the biggest repertoire of songs than any other non-league team in this country too.  Every big game though something new comes along, and last night the highlight for me was those sat in front of us turning round to watch us doing "the bouncy".  Even the Celtic daft BOTS like Big Yin were leaping about like loonies.

It was a great turn out of supporters last night though, 405 puts us up there with the highest league attendance this year, bigger than some team from the outskirts of London who've been inundating our forum with bollocks about our support compared with theirs.  Like always though, we'll probably have about 100 this Saturday.  If that was your first time up at the Triangle this year make sure you come back, the banter's always good.  There's no reason that we shouldn't be getting crowds like that every week in a town of near 60,000 people.  I overheard the two Bones fans I mentioned on the way into the ground saying that this would be our biggest gate of the season, which is hard to argue with.  Although likewise their biggest gate will probably be against us.  It shouldn't only be local derbies that pull the crowd in though.  It does make a difference so forget the other teams around here and their boring supporters, support the STEELMEN !  Us BOTS like to act up for a crowd.  Only Corby supporters can turn around playing in an athletics stadium as some sort of advantage to sing "we've got one stand bigger than your ground".

Special thanks to Corby 3 Detachment Army Cadets for all their help as ball-boys.  No doubt Big Dale was influential in this, I even asked Dale if there was going to be a military band on at half time.  Well done also to the junior BOTS for keeping the swearing under control, there was a lot of women and children there and we did ourselves proud.. I think we've sussed this sensible swearing thing !  And of course a major thanks to all those that have spent the best part of this week getting the trackside bar tarted up, a great effort all round.  The board asked me to thank the supporters through the site.  This club is going forward both on and off the field.  Finally thanks to all the players and staff, all of them, applauding the fans on their way down the tunnel at the end.  We're Steelmen 'til we die !  Who wants Gascoigne, Danny Baker, or Five Bellies when we've got Dunny, Dessie, and Gordon !  (we don't really want their physio !)

One sour note, as ever, the Evening Telegraph: we're obviously not worthy of a decent pre or post-match write up.  I'd just like to take this opportunity to ask a particular Diamonds sycophant journalist who was in attendance last night, what it's like to hear a crowd pal ?  Noisy enough for you, bet you don't hear a crowd like that at Non Park ?  I spoke to an un-named local politician earlier today who told me he wanted to give the lanky ballix a slap as he'd annoyed him that much.  All together now, "Don't buy the Telegraph, Don't buy the Telegraph !"  Anti-Corby rag.

See the other 404 of you this Saturday then !  Big Dale's updated his page after last night too, check it out here.

Also: A big HELLO! to my cousin Lee who joined the BOTS second half last night !

21/10 - THE STEELMEN ARE HOME !

No need to get those bovine inoculations boosted, no fear of foot and mouth, because the Steelmen are home at last !  Here's the latest official line from the club from Mark..

"The game on Wednesday 26th October v Rothwell will be the first game at the Rockingham Triangle this season.  The ground was inspected by board members this morning and the pitch is perfect.  The decoration of the changing rooms is going on well and the black and white decor gives a Corby Town stamp on the Triangle.  The seats are all repaired and the fencing will be almost finished.  For the Rothwell game the far side standing may be curtailed but after Friday I have been assured it will be ready.

"The bar will be painted on Thursday and Friday at the latest so will not be fully decorated but other areas will be ready thanks to the supporters who are helping out on Tuesday under Big Dales stewardship.  The TV brackets need fixed to the wall and the TVs will be put in place on Wednesday and aerials fitted etc.  The pool table will also be fixed on Wednesday.  I handed out 300 posters at the Rockingham Triangle and S&L this afternoon offering free entry to 16 & under if accompanied by adults this afternoon.  New admission price to keep us in line with rest of league will be £6.00 adults £4.00 others.

"We will be giving several press releases and if the press can not cover in a positive way a top of the table clash between two local teams we may as well give up.  Wednesday's game is a real biggie and we should really be looking at a 250+ crowd so all help is needed.  Please post on the forum if you can help in any way."

Oh I nearly forgot, still second in the league too and in the next round of the trophy, ya fuckin' dancer !  Also Big Dale's got a few things to say..

27/09 - "YOU'D THINK THEY'D JUST WON THE LEAGUE THE WAY THEY'RE CARRYING ON..!"

Absolutely nothing worth mentioning about tonight's debacle against that small town near Corby.  The editor of this news page on theSTEELMEN.com wasn't witness to an alleged spitting incident involving Corby Town supporters during tonight's game, but it was witness to the manager of the opposing team twice goading opposition supporters from outside his technical area, and was also witness, as was the linesman and a local photographer, to some poison looking Jimmy Krankie look-alike spitting into the face of a 14 year old in the crowd.

I was far from impressed by the behaviour of some Corby Town supporters tonight, but I would be aghast if I saw the manager of my team behave like that.  And to then try to justify his behaviour in the bar afterwards, like he had licence to do that.  Real professional.  Absolutely pathetic you wee prick.  I look forward to seeing you getting kicked out of football for a while you horrible wee bastard.

24/09 - LET'S ALL HAVE A DISCO ! ! !

Matlock Away: there was a real air of anticipation about this game, what with the Steelmen playing so well and our own minibus running us to Derbyshire.  After a bit of fucking about with the bus (no driver at the last minute) the Super Steelmen Swally Bus hit the road.  I knew what sort of day it was going to be with the amount of beer on board, I'm surprised the bus could move.  Pengy was on board though making sure we behaved, taking a bit of a ribbing for wearing a shirt and tie to the game.  We decked the windows out in Steelmen posters and stickers before cracking open the "refreshments".

Good crack on the way up, a number of fit looking girls driving sports cars getting a nice view of the bare arses of two un-named BOTS.  After a brief stop on the way up the singing started, we were in good voice.  We arrived into Matlock with an hour to spare, so took a recce mission of the town, a few jars before the game started.

We assembled under the stand, Reg got his drum out, and Matlock was witness to another quality vocal effort from the BOTS.  We were enjoying the healthy banter with the Matlock fans the other side of the pitch, themselves with their own drummer in tow.  Matlock's a good set-up, and ideally we'd do a lot better if our ground was slap bang in the middle of the town like's theirs is.  Still that being said, we couldn't resist singing "we've got one stand bigger than your ground !"

We kept the singing and banter up all game, despite going 2-0 down, and decided to "have a diiis-co !" at the end much to the amusement of the departing Matlock fans.  We scaled the fence, raced across the pitch kicking Robbie's inflatable sheep, and into the bar for a few more.  We had a good crack with our Matlock counterparts, who were entertained by Rory dressed like Superman with his rampant lion "cape" taking penalties with the aforementioned sheep

So a great day had by all despite the result.  That was the only sour point, and things might've been different if Kev Byrne has finished his chance.  But it was  spirited performance from the Steelmen, the look of disappointment in loosing to a team who are a league above us speaks volumes of how far we've come in the last few months.  Dale and JC jumped in with us on the way home, more singing, more bevvying, Rory and Paul scrapping on the way back, but all in all a quality day out.

Best of luck to Matlock in the next round where they face Ossett at home.  A good bunch of lads, who like us, enjoy a beering it up and singing.  The cup dream is over for another year, but well done to the lads, a tidy sum of cash is coming our way after some good performances in the earlier rounds.  We'll just have to win the FA Trophy instead..

THERE'S ONLY ONE BAMBER GASCOIGNE..  What's all this nonsense in the R&DET about Bamber Gascoigne taking over Kettering then ?  The things that paper writes..

23/09 - DUNNY ON THE TASK IN HAND, MORE PRAISE FOR SUPPORTERS

From tonight's R&D ET:

STEELMEN'S TOUGH CHALLENGE

CORBY Town boss Rob Dunion will be hoping his side can make it nine wins out of nine tomorrow.  But the Steelmen manager accepts they will face a very tough challenge to keep their incredible run going.

Wednesday's convincing Errea Cup triumph over Western Division high-fliers Brackley Town took their recent record to eight straight wins in all competitions.

And while Dunion was happy with the display, he is concerned at the timing of the game with the trip to Derbyshire coming just three days later.

"It was a match we didn't need prior to our FA Cup tie," Dunion explained. "But it keeps our winning run going.

"The lads are playing with great confidence at the moment and their fitness levels look very good.

"We will need to take all of that into this game because Matlock are a very hard-working and organised side. I went to watch them against Lincoln and it proved a very worthwhile trip.

"We now know we will do well to get a result at a UniBond Premier Division side but, if we play to the best of our ability, who knows? It is the FA Cup."

Mark Burrows, who was rested on Wednesday night, comes back into contention as does Brian Hardie whose rib injury has healed up.  Zac Nedimovic returns after getting married but Stewart Marshall misses out with a groin strain.

Corby expect to take a good-sized following with them for the trip north.  And Dunion paid tribute to the support his side have received.  "I would like to thank the fans for their vocal support so far this season.

"Especially when we are actually playing at an away venue every week."

22/09 - HAUD ON A MINUTE..

2-1 against Sittingbourne, 1-0 away to Potters Bar, banging in 3 against Enfield, another three away at Great Wakering, then rattling in 4 against Dartford.  Knocking Congleton and Shepshed out of the Cup, battering bogey side Brackley in the league cup.  2nd in the league, 2nd round qualifying of the FA Cup.  Loads of singing, more fans turning up, more local media coverage, Dunny on Radio Northampton, people stopping me in the street to ask me when we're playing next, I might come along mate.  What the f... is going on !?  Since when we did become so good !?  I'm not used to this, I thought supporting a non-league football team was meant to be about the misery of loosing, cold weather, and getting drunk.  Might have to start supporting someone shit like Diamonds if this carries on..

I know it's been nearly a month since the site was last updated, so Dale gave me a bollocking, Dale's page is updated, as is the Where's Dale page.

The supporters' "swally bus" to the MATLOCK TOWN game in the FA CUP still has some seats available.  Anyone interested in coming along should email Robbie Dunion or contact this site here.

Tonight's R&D Telegraph: A good write up and picture of Kev Byrne, too much to be expected though getting the back page, the Sheep Shaggers don't play but get the back spot, oh and a column for The Inbreds too of course.  FFS..

BYRNE'S DOUBLE HELPS MAKE IT EIGHT IN A ROW Corby 4 Brackley 1:  Corby town needed extra time to make it eight wins out of eight as they saw off Brackley Town in the Southern League's Errea Cup at Rockingham Road last night.

The hosts, who travel to Matlock Town for a big FA Cup game on Saturday, started well and almost opened the scoring early on but Kevin Byrne's point blank effort was well saved by Richard Knight in the visiting goal.

However, Corby took the lead on 15 minutes when a good through ball from Brett Darby found Byrne who ran on and as Knight advanced he calmly lobbed the ball over him from 18 yards.

Good defending from Corby meant the visitors were restricted to shooting from long range causing no problems for Darren Watts in goals.

As the game wore on though, the Steelmen squandered a number of chances and the visitors started to threaten.

And the inevitable happened with just 15 minutes left on the clock.

Half time substitute Yannick Kwanyou swiftly turned and beat Watts down by his post.

In the last couple of minutes of normal time a good croos by Alan Campbell set up Byrne but the latter's effort was cleared off the line by Jamie Williams.

The Steelmen stepped up a gear in the extra half-an-hour and within three minutes another good free kick by Darby saw Byrne race through and he beat Knight from close range.

Minutes later good running by substitute Richard Moore saw his cross find Campbell and he easily side footed home to make it 3-1.

With the visitors now demoralised the hosts completed the scoring in the dying seconds when Carl Holmes easily found the back of Knight's net.  MOTM Byrne (always looked dangerous)

21/09 - YOU CAN TAKE THE BOYS OUT OF CORBY..

Page 3 news from the R&D ET tonight..

UNRULY STEELMEN FANS FACING BAN  A director of a town's football club has told a minority of it's fans to "behave or be banned" from home matches.

Vice-chairman of Corby Town Mark Pengelly issued the warning after a handful of fans vandalised part of Kettering Town's stadium and used foul language at the Steelmen's game against  Dartford on Saturday.

The Steelmen are using the Poppies' Rockingham Road ground for home matches while building work goes on at the Corby ground.

The work should be completed by Saturday, October 8.

Mr Pengelly said "We will be back at Rockingham Triangle within the next couple of months but the Corby Town board has asked Kettering to allow the continued use of the terrace for the majority of well behaved supporters."

He said supporters should appreciate the hospitality given by the Poppies in letting Corby Town use their stadium and added "The vandalism of a toilet, the attempt to pull down a hoarding, and the bad language was by only a handful of people, but if it does happen again we will ban supporters."

Kettering Town chairman Peter Mallinger said he was unaware of the weekend's problems and said "We are more than happy to accommodate our good neighbours Corby Town and wish them luck when they return to their home after the final game here on October 1."

TheSTEELMEN.com is making no comment..!

23/08 - POTTERS BAR TOWN 0 - 1 CORBY TOWN

The rampant Steelmen make it 6 points from a possible six after the fuck-up against Arlesey, the Steelmen have now climbed up to 7th in the table and are looking good.  Chuck's written a concise match report, read it here.

Also Big Dale's page is updated after he made the trip to Potters Bar, check it out here.

20/08 - CORBY TOWN 2 - 1 SITTINGBOURNE

First win in 23 years at Rockingham Road, unfortunately not against the ground owners though !  Super Steelmen come from behind to take all three points from the Brickies, read Chuck's match report here.

17/08 - CORBY TOWN 1 - 2 ARLESEY TOWN

Not much to take from our first 'home' game, we were never at the races.  Started brightly but never made the most of them deservedly going down to 10 men.  Think we're missing something up front.  In the end the Steelmen were having trouble not falling over the ball.  In all fairness had it not been for their keeper the outcome would've been a lot different.  But in fairness their players raised their game, you could see it coming, and held on for a deserved win.

One positive to take from the match was the noise made by the travelling BOTS, plenty of singing, we didn't sing the new "1000 miles" song, but every other song got a rendition.  I bet RR hasn't heard singing like that in years !  Wasn't going to mention this, but I will: our noise was apparently matched by some high-pitch voice standing near us screaming all game.  The foul language might be out of order love, but in our opinion so is taking toddlers to a midweek away fixture.  If it's a bit too neanderthal coming up here, then Cheerio Cheerio Cheerio !

Back down the A6003 for the Sittingbourne match this Saturday then, lets keep up the singing and the banter, looks like we've started where we left off last season (and that's without being drunk cos we won't drink their beer !)

16/08 - ...AND THE EXILE BEGINS

Big Dale's updated his page, without a doubt the most hardcore nutcase ever to grace the terraces following the Steelmen, he starts his self-imposed exile from watching the Steelmen at away/home matches.  He's still going to away/away matches, but he's passed on his wishes for us going to RR:  Big Dale

The STEELMEN started the season picking up a point at Chatham, a well battled for point, but Corby struggled to test the opposition keeper.  Quite a bit of noise made by the BOTS  in attendance, although a few of their fans we're getting agitated at us banging the roof of their new stand.  Not sure what their fans made of our repertoire of songs, including the "Walk 500 miles to see the Steelmen score" song.  I'd tell you little more about it but I got pissed, so read Chuck's match report of the game here.

12/08 - FIRST GAME OF THE NEW CAMPAIGN

Don't know about you, but we at theSTEELMEN.com can't fukn wait for tomorrow !  Summer's over, the STEELMEN are back !!

11/08 - BIN LADEN'S CAVE

Also James McCafferty has prompted us to start the ball rolling with the UPS again, UPS.

08/08 - FIXTURES POSTER

Feel free to print off August's fixtures poster, stick it up at work, the pub, school.  It's a PDF file so you'll need to download Adobe Acrobat in order to see it.  Also there's a wallpaper featuring our fixtures that you can also use.

06/08 - GREAT YARMOUTH 0 - 0 CORBY TOWN

Final pre-season friendly before the new campaign starts, a spirited performance from the Steelmen though they didn't find the net.  Can't write too much on the game as I didn't go.  Chuck's written a (concise) match report, check it out here.

DALE: Dale's also back from Baghdad or wherever it was he went with the Army.  Here's his update.

TRACKSIDE BAR: There's a lot being said on the forum on the topic of the bar, lots of speculation and rumours.  theSTEELMEN.com are going to ask the club what the exact situation is before anything is put down in writing.

04/08 - INAUGURAL SUPPORTERS 5-a-SIDE

The first game tonight between the YCC and the Senior BOTS.  I think the Senior BOTS won the game, the scoreline got a bit stupid in the end.  Wee Dunny marked the occasion by sporting the new Corby Town home shirt, details of how to get hold of one will be on the official site in the next few days.

"WHERE'S DALE ?"

Check out the "Where's Dale ?" page here.  Once we're playing at KTFC we'll post a new picture of Dale each week in and around an empty Rockingham Triangle with his safety hat on.

03/08 - YCC

The YCC have updated their page, check on Kettle's latest update here

01/08 - FRIAR LANE OLD BOYS GAME OFF

Tuesday night's scheduled pre-season friendly against Friar Lane has been called off due to injuries in the Corby squad.

31/07 - "HOMELESS STEELMEN"

Latest from the R&D Evening Telegraph:

NEIGHBOURS HELP OUT 'HOMELESS' STEELMEN

CORBY TOWN will play their first eight Southern League Division One East home fixtures next season at Kettering Town's Rockingham Road ground.  The Steelmen have been forced into a temporary move due to refurbishment work at Rockingham Triangle which includes the resurfacing of the athletics track.  On top of those eight league games a number of cup-ties might also be staged down the A6003 depending on the team's progress in the various competitions.

Steelmen vice-chairman Mark Pengelly said: "We have been building good relations with Kettering Town, the chairman, their directors and staff over several seasons and would like to thank them for helping us out for a few months.

"It's vital this refurbishment takes place at the Triangle – especially bringing the track up to a suitable standard to enable our close partners Corby Athletic Club to produce some star athletes for the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

"This may cause some short-term inconvenience for supporters.  But it is the first stage of a master plan to bring the Triangle into the 21st century as a football and athletic sporting facility."

Poppies chairman Peter Mallinger added: "Following news of the successful Olympic bid for 2012 it is important to support the plans for Rockingham Triangle.

"The county should be making every possible facility available to give our youngsters the opportunity to become our Olympic hopes of the future.  If Kettering Town can be of any assistance in any way then we are only too happy to help. We've a good relationship with Corby Town and are pleased to make our facilities available to them while work is taking place."

Coaches will be laid on to transport supporters to and from Rockingham Road during the temporary move.

Nice of the ET to make us sound like a bunch of fukn paupers.  Our support is divided on this, some not bothered too much about it, and relishing playing in a proper football ground, albeit Kettering though.  To Dale at the other end off the spectrum who wouldn't piss on their ground if it was on fire.  There's a new rant about in the RANT section of the site.

Talking of the Olympics and how the ground may be used a training venue, theSTEELMEN.com has seen evidence that Corby itself applied to host the olympics, check it out here..

30/07 - THURNBY RANGERS 1 - 1 CORBY TOWN

An injury ravaged Corby side were held to a 1-1 draw today by Midland Alliance side Thurnby.  New signing Carl Holmes was on the score sheet again for the Steelmen.

29/07 - PROPOSED REFURBISHMENT OF TRACKSIDE BAR

After last night's Shareholder's AGM, theSTEELMEN.com was informed that the proposed changes to the Trackside bar will not go ahead as the club has not had permission from Corby Borough Council.  This will no doubt be frustrating to many supporters.  In short the bar is a state, Charlie Middleton, Paul Beattie, Robbie Dunion, and James McCafferty cleaned it from it's current state to something more presentable.  Representatives of the supporters (probably Charlie and Paul) will now approach the board and directors with a suggestion that some of the money earmarked for refurbishment can be spent on re-decorating the bar and displaying more CTFC memorabilia.

27/07 - CORBY TOWN 1 - 0 STEWARTS & LLOYDS

The Steelmen made it four-in-a-row with a 1-0 win over town neighbours S&L in the Bob Cummings Trophy.  Supporters' player of the year Bobby White scoring the only goal.  Four years in a row and has anyone seen this trophy yet ?

25/07 - CORBY TOWN 1 - 1 RUGBY TOWN

Newly formed Rugby Town FC, visited the Triangle Monday night to play the Steelmen.  Ex-Steelmen Robbie Maddox and Kevin Slinn lining out for the Rugby side.  Carl Holmes struck first for the Steelmen, with Slinn capitalising after a slip-up by new keeper Darren Watts.  The Steelmen held their own all game, some quality passing and movement, against opposition from the Southern League Premier.

25/07 - NEW SIGNINGS FOR STEELMEN

Versatile and experienced midfielder CARL HOLMES has signed for the Steelmen.  Holmes has played previously for Stamford and King's Lynn in the southern league.  Corby have also signed goalkeeper DARREN WATTS from Stamford too.  Despite playing for the Daniels and the Linnets there's no truth that they have webbed feet.  Only joking Lads, welcome to Corby Town FC.

RICHARD LAVIN: with Watts signing for the Steelmen, all on this website would like to wish Lavs all the best wherever he plays this season.  A great servant to the club, and probably the most acrobatic keeper to grace the No.1 shirt for Corby.  All the best.

24/07 - NEW LOOK SITE

New season, new 'kit' for the website.  Decided to model the new site on the look of the 60's programme.  If you don't like it I don't care, as I've just spent the best part of 4 hours rebuilding it.
