29/09 - Corby Town 3 - 0 Enfield

Report from Chuck Middleton

Corby came out of the blocks all guns blazing and within 30mins were 3 nil up.

Glen Turner struck first, the goal was untidy but counted, where as the 2nd, a nudge off a Darby free kick, was hammered into the net by Carl Holmes.  Kevin Byrnes hit the 3rd on 28 mins and the game was over.

The next 60 mins saw the Steelmen hold the game and the E’s back, an easy 3 points as Corby take up position in the top 5 in the league

Final score: Corby Town 3 - 0 Enfield

23/08 - Potters Bar Town 0 - 1 Corby Town

Report from Chuck Middleton

Another win for the Steelmen as striker Carl Holmes nets away from home.

At kick off Potters
Bar Town were bottom of the league and not found the net all season, that situation continued when Holmes scored on 16 mins and Corby held on with comfort and ease until the end of the game. Things are starting to turn for the Steelmen in the SLD1E before they start to think about the FA Cup fixture verses Congleton on Saturday.

Final Score:
Potters Bar Town 0 - 1 Corby Town

20/08 - Corby Town 2 - 1 Sittingbourne

Report from Chuck Middleton

Carl Holmes bags a brace as the Steelmen come from behind to achieve their first of the new season.

Corby were chasing the game after 15 min when the Brickies broke though defence with one pass and goal machine Mark Lovell scored his 5th goal of the season.  The Steelmen needed to get back into the game and luckily Sittingbourne didn’t seem to want to kill the game off, merely content to sit on the lead so that’s how the 1st half ended.

The new half opened and Corby were straight down the throats of the Kent team.  Having come close with in minutes of the restart, Kevin Byrne started a run from deep in his own half before passing along the 18 yard line to Holmes who found the net.  The scores were level on 51 mins.

Corby looked for the next goal and enjoyed attempts from Byrne and Campbell before a Darby corner was badly defended and eventually fell to Holmes who blasted the ball through a crowded box to put the Steelmen ahead.  After the game Dunion’s reaction was simply “bouncebackability” and was pleased to have shown their teeth, kept their heads, and taken the 3 points.

Final Score: Corby Town 2 - 1 Sittingbourne

13/08 - Chatham Town 0 - 0 Corby Town

Report from Chuck Middleton

A game with no goals and to be honest few good chances, but to take a point, away from home and keep a clean sheet can't be all that bad.

In the 1st half Corby looked lost and came under the cosh from a Chatham team that ended up in the same place as the Steelmen ended in the West division.

The 2nd half was a different game as the half time talk energized the Steelmen and Darby had 3 free kick chances to make a name for him self but to no avail.  The last 5 mins were frantic but Dunion was satisfied with the performance though realizes the first home game has more levity thrust upon it.

Final Score: Chatham Town 0 -0 Corby Town
