Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway
Saturday 23th May 2009

The railway is celebrating it's 90th birthday this year and over the bank holiday weekend it had two visiting locomotives.

The railway was originally built using equipment returning from the First World War. It is now home to a Baldwin locomotive also built for the war effort.

The visitors were also ex-military locomotives from France and Germany respectively.

At Stonehenge Works there was time to take more photos while the visiting French Decauville and resident locotmove PC Allen ran round the train.
They are seen double heading as they round the tight curve leading to the 1 in 25 Marleys Bank.
Displays at Stonehenge Works include a re-creation of a typical sand train as originally operated on the line.
Elsewhere a temporary shelter protects the frames of the latest steam locomotive undergoing restoration by volunteers.
Back at Pages Park (the main passenger station) was the American First World War Baldwin and a couple of much smaller British petrol locomotives of similar age.
