The August Bank Holiday was an opportunity to celebrate the 90th birthday of Doll, one of Leighton Buzzard's own locomotives.
There were a couple of special guests in attendance:
- Gertrude (Doll's sister loco) was on public show for the first time in 50 years, having recently been fully restored.
- The only remaining Hunslet locomotive of the type that once worked with both Doll and Gertrude was on static display.
Doll leaves the yard at Pages Park and backs onto the train. Meanwhile Gertrude is checked over as she waits to run round the train.
Doll takes water and is then joined by Gertrude for a double-header.
The unrestored Hunslet on display at Stonehenge Works and a view of Sezela No.4 taking over from Doll and Gertrude for the return trip.
Sezela No.4 at two of the road crossings that are a feature of the line, and a stretch of roadside running.
Back at Pages Park station PC Allen (left) and Risha (right) flank another visitor - an unrestored Hudswell Clarke locomotive.
This was another significant visitor as it is the last remaining example of the type which ran at Leighton Buzzard when the line
first opened in 1919.
