THE KNOWLEDGE

The Key to

Inner Enlightenment

To heal the body it is wise to heal the mind, to heal the mind we must collude with the spirit.  When we are comfortable in our own skin, enabled by personal power, energised, confident, feeling above no-one yet not feeling beneath anyone, forgiving easily, then we can truly say that we are balanced mind body and spirit.

Meditation. Our anxious states and worries mostly come from our dwelling on the past mistakes or future uncertainties of our lives, this is the domain of the mind. The domain of spirit is in holding our attention in the certainty of the present moment, not missing anything in our lives as it enfolds, not missing anything of it's beauty or simplicity.

"What you are, is what you have done, what you will be is what you do now"     (The Buddha)

"Happiness and spiritual growth are connected.  Being peaceful and being happy form the most important foundation of spiritual practice, then the practice goes by itself"     (Mother Meera)

We can't change what is happening now, we have to accept the present moment as it is.  We can however intend the future.  Sometimes we need help with this.

"Think thoughts that make you happy.  Do things that make you feel good.  Be with people who make you feel good.  Eat things that make your body feel good. Go at a pace that makes you feel good."

"You can heal your life"     (Louise L Hay)

Love of the self is an important prerequisite to happiness, if we don't love ourselves, how can we hope to love others.  Be positive, expect good things in your life, this will encourage positive events, negative thoughts propel negative events into our lives.  Trust in the process of life.

We need to take responsibility for our health, wellbeing, happiness and peace of mind.  I can help you with these matters with holistic counselling and healing.

“Take time for the self"

Meditation

Meditation can change your life in a very profound way, and many people have reaped the rewards of this simple yet successful form of relaxation.  Contrary to popular belief you do not have to have any particular belief system or religion or follow any different structure to your life apart from take a little time each day to yourself and go from there. Striking the right balance between mental, physical and quiet contemplation time in life is very rewarding.  We need all three!

There are many good books on the subject of meditation and although it is not rocket science, it is useful to be guided as with any new endeavour.  It is very nice to create a nice quiet little spot in your home for this practice also, in order that you feel calm almost immediately as you associate the place with serenity.

Meditation is a means of relaxation countered with heightened states of awareness giving rise to solving our problems and relieving our anxious states of mind.  Usual relaxation for most people tends to be counter-productive however meditation takes you inwards in search of your highest self.

Example

Sit in a comfortable position, breathe normally, focus on a lighted candle, soften your gaze so that you are looking beyond the flame.  When you feel you can retain it in your memory close your eyes. You will probably have to repeat the process.   Eventually you will be able to lose yourself in the image of the flame in your mind, merging with it. When the time is right come back to normal consciousness.  As with many things practice and familiarity brings rewards. People who practice meditation reap great rewards and are healthy and energised.
