OFFERING SUPPORT to CHILDREN AND RELATIVES

FOR CHILDREN WITH BRAIN OR SPINAL TUMOURS AND THEIR FAMILIES

Friends of O.S.C.A.R is a charity set up to support children with brain and spinal tumours and their families, throughout the country.

Friends of O.S.C.A.R (oxford) aims to provide:

 

  • Families with opportunities to meet others facing a similar diagnosis and in a similar situation.
  • Several social events each year, such as:
  • A Christmas Pantomime
  • Adolescent Weekend.
  • Family Fun Day.
  • Parental support through group meetings and written information.
  • Friends of O.S.C.A.R (Oxford) would also like to provide some financial help to others who would like to set up branches of Friends of O.S.C.A.R in other counties.
  • Friends of O.S.C.A.R continues to support families who suffer a bereavement.

Every year 600 children in the UK are diagnosed with a brain and/or spinal tumour but most regions provide very little support specific to this diagnosis. Oxfordshire Staff and families felt they would like to be able to offer the same level of support to other families throughout the UK and so Friends of O.S.C.A.R was set up in 2005, for this purpose.
