Morocco - Practice Run

Because we were all complete novices and we'd never loaded our vehicles for this kind of trip before, we decided that some sort of 'dry run' would be a good idea. Obviously we wouldn't be able to simulate conditions in Morocco too closely, but we figured that by loading up and driving a few local green lanes then we'd at least get a feel for how the vehicles performed and make sure that everything stayed where it was put! So in the middle of March, about two weeks before we were due to depart, we did just that.

Three vehicles actually made it on the practice run.

There was no mistaking James' Land Rover from behind....

The additional load didn't seem to make much difference to any of the vehicles' performance on the relatively mild lanes that we attempted.

This sandy track near Frensham Pond in Surrey was about as close to the Sahara as we could find!

I'm pleased to say that this test was very successful and the way that the vehicle was loaded was exactly how we travelled to Morocco.
