Discovery Owners Club

The DOC is a national club that exists to promote the use and enjoyment of the Discovery as a unique Land Rover vehicle. The Club officially came into being in April 2000, although the idea was sparked by the Discovery's tenth anniversary the previous summer.

The Club is managed by a small committee and an Annual General Meeting open to all of the membership is held each year where the committee members are elected. At the 2006 AGM I was privileged to be elected to the committee as Competition Secretary, with responsibility for Club liaisons with the Motor Sports Association and the Association of Land Rover Clubs.

The Club usually has a good turn out at the various Land Rover showsThe versatility of the Discovery has given it a wider appeal than any previous Land Rover and this is reflected in the diverse membership of the Club. From serious off-roaders to those who are content to polish their vehicle every Sunday and from caravanners to overlanders, all are represented.

The Club offers all the usual kinds of things that you would expect from this sort of organisation: national and local events, discounts arranged for the members, regular newsletter, etc. There's also an excellent members internet forum where you can get pretty much instant help, advice and opinions on all things 'Discovery' related. All the various incarnations of the model are catered for, from the earliest 3 door 200 tdi to the latest Discovery 3.

Most members enjoy the chance to show off their vehicle

I joined the DOC in November 2001, shortly after I took possession of my own Discovery. I've relied heavily on the wealth of experience within the membership for many of the modifications I've made to my vehicle, and I'd recommend it to any Discovery owner.
