Hungerford - October 2003
When green
laning, I like the idea of going somewhere so always try to plot routes
that head in a definite direction or have some aim in mind. One of my
favourites is a route that starts just south of Hungerford and heads
back towards Basingstoke. We first drove this particular route back in
1999, shortly after I bought my Stage 1 V8, and have driven it several
times since including one very cold and foggy New Years Day. The
condition of the tracks have changed quite a lot in that time, with some
parts being graded and surfaced and others having some of the larger
holes filled in, but it's still an interesting route, taking in part of
the Wayfarers and offering great views over the Downs.
I led a
small group of Discovery's over this route on a clear and dry day in
October 2003. It was by no means taxing for even the most standard of
vehicles but some of the more overgrown sections meant that the
paintwork suffered a bit...
