Dunsfold Collection

This Discovery is one of the first prototypes dating from 1988. During its testing it has been all round the world - there is even evidence of trials in the arctic circle. During trials a fiberglass disguise pod would have been fitted to the rear of the body.

After mileage tests it was used as a mule for Camel Trophy rigging and training, hence the full roll cage and winch. The body damage was caused through many hours off road driver training and durability tests. At one time the vehicle was left submerged for 3 days in a muddy hole to test for water ingress into mechanical components.

These days the Discovery has a much easier life attending shows. Getting an MoT is now proving difficult due to extensive body corrosion from salt water testing and a new inner shell is awaiting fitting! The registration is older than the car to help to disguise a new model while on mileage tests on the road, and is not a Solihull number.
