Minister of the Cathedral:

 

Revd Dr Laurence A B Whitley MA BD PhD

 

Revd Dr Whitley

 

Born in Port Glasgow, Laurence Whitley spent part of his early childhood in Partick, Glasgow, where his father, the Reverend Doctor Harry Whitley, was minister of Partick Old before being called to St Giles in Edinburgh.

Dr Whitley was educated at Edinburgh and St Andrew’s Universities and later graduated Doctor of Philosophy from St Andrew’s University in 1991, his research being on Church History.

He was inducted as minister of Busby East and West in 1975 before being called to Montrose Old Kirk in 1985, which was united in 2004 to become Old and St Andrew’s.

Dr Whitley is married to Catherine and they have a son, Edward, currently at St Andrew’s University and a daughter, Hilary, in her final year at Montrose Academy.

Dr Whitley was Inducted into the Cathedral charge on 15th February 2007.

    Mr. Turner has been Director of Music in the Cathedral since 1965.
