As I have said on a previous page, unless you know what you are doing and had the training, I do not advise practicing on yourself or anyone else with these products.  Go and have a proper treatment by your therapist.

Specialised treatments:

With Paraffin wax treatment you would test the temperature on your self and then on the clients shoulder.  The gauze would be applied first along with the eye pads; wax would then be painted on over the top avoiding the mouth, nostrils and eye area.  (As with all masks)

Warm oil - gauze would be applied to the face in either a whole or strips after being soaked in the warm oil.  (Oil in bowl over another bowl of hot water)

The client would be asked if they would like eye pads after the application of a mask – but with a warm oil and paraffin wax they would be applied before under the gauze for the protection of the client.

Thermal mask – this is applied to the face over cream and gauze.  It heats as it hardens which stimulates the circulation and improves cellular regeneration, which helps the skin to absorb the cream.  Which has to be the right one for the skin.  The mask comes off in one piece – time up to 20 minutes.  Normal, oily with large pores and congested skin types except highly vascular and highly-strung clients.

Gel masks – is a product on the market that consist of active fluids of natural extracts.  Mixed with a gelling agent, creates a mask for a particular skin type or condition.  Can used along with other products; massage and moisturising cream that would complement each other.  All skin types.

Latex mask – an emulsion of latex and water, applied to the face.  When water evaporates leaves a rubber film over the face – rise in temperature, tightening of the skin, suitable for mature or dry skin.

As with all masks you have to be aware if the client is claustrophobic.

SUITABILITY AND TIMINGS

Timing is all depending if there is any reaction to the ingredients in the mask. Also it will vary from salon to salon. All masks are applied to the face and neck.  There are many combinations that can be used for the skin type and condition of the skin.
