Always use clear white lighting when applying make-up. Natural day light is the best when applying your make-up although sadly we don't get it 24 hours. So do your very best to get the best light possible to achieve the effects that you want.
Have a read of the effects of different coloured lighting on make-up below.
RED:
Alters
colours dramatically – fades blusher – gold, yellow and tawny hues look
deeper.
BLUE:
Hard
colour – blushers, shaders look deeper than normal, use lightly.
Also turns make-up grey.
CANDLELIGHT:
Very
flattering, muted blue tones with contrast of golden glow e.g. lavender rose
plum. More blusher needed to accentuate contours.
ELECTRIC:
Use
bright, clear colours as incandescent glowing light washes colours out.
FLUORESCENT:
Shows
imperfections and fatigue as cold light – use warmer colours.
PINK:
Colour
of make-up looks warmer – may make deeper pinks look red – use lighter pinks
or tawny shades which contain no red, also dulls blue, green eye-shadows, if
using these colours try ones with added sparkles, frost or highlight centre of
lid over eye-shadow.
ROSE:
Enhances make-up, flattering to all skin complexions.
