Urticating Hairs:
Some tarantulas have fine hairs which are barbed,and contain a mild venom,which
they will kick off if disturbed. These
hairs can cause irritation to your eyes, nose or skin, it is advisable
to keep your hands and arms covered, and your face a safe distance away
from the spider , when feeding or cleaning their tank.There
are a lot of tarantulas which do this of which are often called bombardier
spiders.
It has been said that many hobbyists have had to give there spiders up
because they have allergic reactions to them,
IE.. skin rashes . problems with breathing & generall swelling
So please be aware of this as it can be a problem...............
Also did you know that arboreal (tree dwellers)
species line there webs with these irritating hairs for protection against
predators.so try not to handle the web with bare hands,if you do so wash
your hands after, but even washing your hands may not b enough
