All Souls
This is a Scully episode - Mulder appears for an obligatory five seconds, but Gillian Anderson carries the entire show magnificently.
This reviewer only caught a glimpse - however, it seems to have an actual plot arc!

X-Files [Season 5, Episode 20]
The Pine Bluff Variant
This episode is unique insofar as there is no supernatural aspect, and the conspiracy theory has nothing to do with the mundane story arc Carter has carved out of his series' huge pile of loose ends. How you feel about this episode depends on how you feel about Mulder and Scully - what the hell, the series has always been character-driven, but this is ridiculous.

This week we are given a run-down of what happened on the previous 2 episodes. The girl and the token friendly nonhuman followed up on the origins of the new species. They went to Mexico, where they uncovered the remains of a secret village in the mountains, a pillar with strange carvings, and the mumified corpse of a 9-year-old nonhuman girl - pregnant in all 4 of her uteruses!
Larry Drake's FBI contacts retrieve the pillar and deliver it to his LA warehouse, where they discover the carvings are a map of the night's sky. The creatures' tattoos indicate the path of a comet that was due to return in October 1998 ...
Meanwhile, the creatures are homing in on an energy source ...

X-Files [Season 5, Episode 22 - finale]
The End
This episode is so called not just because it is the final episode of Season 5, but because it was the final episode filmed in Vancouver. All the regular characters get a look in; A hit-team looking for CSM turns out to be Krychek looking to bring him back to the fold, along with WMM and John Neville.
Yet another of Mulder's ex-GFs makes an appearance; in Season 1 it was Amanda Pays, now it's Mimi Rogers.
Like B5, the ending is somewhat downbeat; however, with X-Files it was done as a deliberate lead-on to the 1998 X-Files: the Movie
X-Files: the Movie
The good non-human has a showdown with the female assassin who's been dogging their efforts. Her mentor is SAAB's Colonel TC McQueen!
