Dear Sir/Madam

For 50 years the computer industry has been dominated by USA monopolies. At present Microsoft has a monopoly of PC Operating Systems (over 85%). This is against the interests of UK consumers and UK IT companies, and this is because Microsoft has been allowed to abused it position and stifled competition. Intel also has a bad record. These companies have been guilt of predation. There is plenty of evidence for this in the public domain about both companies (I can supply some of this for you). The idea (from OFT website) that a small company working in a garage will topple the largest companies, is just fascicle, it has not happened once in half a century in IT. Whilst the USA government is now in a court battle with Microsoft, history shows that the likely out come is that the trial will last for years and be unsuccessful. The chance of a judgement which really makes a difference is diminished by the fact that MS is a very large exporter for the USA. Also the USA is not likely to look at the problem in relation to the UK. Just as leaving it to the DoJ is not good enough, so is leaving it to the EU.

That being so, what will YOU DO either now or when you have your new powers? I have also read on your website that you need an external complaint to act. This is it!

I look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Tarquin Mills
