Dear Sir/Madam,

Nearly all computer adverts give misleading figures for the size of their monitor screens. They appear to be quoting the size of the tube, whereas consumers believe they are quoting the actual picture size.

There is a significant difference between these two. To make matters worse, the difference is not a consistent difference so each monitor is a different size. The industry does not even stick to this (tube size) definition so the size is meaningless and misleading.

Adverts should quote only the actual picture size, when the picture has the correct height to width ratio.
