This Solarmatt C Kit was DIY installed in 2003 on a 10m x 5m  pool in  France (N. Brittany). The pool temperature soon began to build up and reached 24 degrees over the Easter holidays.

The owner is very pleased with everything, and in particular the flexible design and walk-on features of the Solarmatt collector which he has cleverly integrated into the pool surround.

He has kindly sent us this photograph and was delighted to  get a substantial increase in his pool temperatures. (See written comments Mr F – N. Brittany – 5/3/08)

This Solarmatt  A+ Kit (135 sq.ft) is laid on an apex roof which has been extended on one side by using some black roofing sheets to increase the area available to 17ft x 8ft.

The system was DIY installed by the owner and  we are really delighted that he has sent us this photograph plus some comments on performance of the system. (see written comments Mr B - Surrey 1-10-03)

Two B kits were DIY installed by the Apollo club members in May 2002 to heat their 41ft x 21ft community pool in Kent.

There are 4 mats connected in series and each mat is 30ft long x 3ft wide giving a total collector area of 360sq.ft. They are mounted on paving slabs laid on sand  contained within a timber frame.

Pool temperatures were very encouraging during the season being typically in the 80’s and reaching a high of  86°F in August 2002. (see  comment from Mr L - Kent 16/2/05)

This B Kit  Solarmatt is being used to heat a 8m x 4m  pool.

The 30ft x 6ft mat is remote sited on top of a pergola and the whole system was installed for the client by a local company earlier this year.

We were very pleased to receive this photograph of the  installation - see written comments below from Naturelle Pools 26/5/04.

We always recommend purchasing the most economic layout and the owner of this 24 x 12ft inground pool simply purchased the basic A+ Kit.

The system was DIY installed in 2003 and the collector is sited on a flat roof thus allowing the mat to be laid in a freeform ‘W’ shaped design with just one manifold at each end of the 60ft long mat.

This C Kit ( 90ft long x 3ft wide) has manual valve controls and was purchased direct  from us for a total price of just £1133 ( inc. VAT & Delivery) and  installed by a customer on his recently purchased 30ft x 15ft  rectangular pool.

He has measured the pool temperatures since the beginning of June 2007 and has very kindly sent us the results plus his comments

 - please see written comments below Mr R – Somerset – 26/6/07

This Solarmatt system was installed by the owner & his wife on their pool  in Cyprus during January 2005.

The head room required for the steps from the pool necessitated having a cut-out in the purpose built pergola.

The unique mat design was created using 24 hose & 18 manifolds - see written comments below Mr H - Cyprus – 28/5/07

We have recently received  this photograph clearly demonstrating  the flexibility of the Solarmatt system - the hoses having been laid each side of an obstruction on the roof.

The pool is fitted with a mechanised cover and the solarmatt system was installed with automatic controls.

The owner reported the pool temperature reached 30ΊC during the  summer months.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS

We’ve had our Solarmatt for 25 years and it’s still going strong.

As soon as we get some good weather the pool gets warm enough for us to swim, the Solarmatt suffices for all our swimming  - Mr C West Sussex – 20/6/09

Our pool has a transparent  dome type cover and our Solarmatt is now 15 years old and has been completely trouble free  – we swim from around  May through to September every year with no heating bills –it’s fantastic.   Mr P Suffolk  - 27/4/09

We bought our Solarmatt in April 2006 and it’s been brilliant!   Mr B  - Essex -  1/9/08

Many thanks for the parts - I am sending you a cheque for £25 to cover cost for your most wonderful service – Mr P – Kent -  25/3/08

We’ve had a Solarmatt on our shed roof for the past 20 years and it’s been fantastic. Unfortunately when we had the roof replaced recently the Solarmatt was simply piled in a heap and I think it may have been damaged so rather than spending time repairing it I am happy to buy a whole new system – Mr B – Worcester – 5/5/07

I bought a Kit from you in April and would just like to thank you personally for your assistance and for your brilliant service right down to the helpfulness of the delivery driver. I’m very happy for you to refer anyone to me and I would be  pleased  to show them our system which is already up & running. -  Mr D – East Yorkshire – 24/5/06

I got the installation completed last week, but have had to wait for some sun.

In full sun, the collector was sustaining a 6-8 degree C temperature rise, and with a half days operation in full sun, the pool temperature was raised from 12 to 14 deg. C (pool open and being used). The previous system never achieved anything like this!   Many thanks again for all your help.  Mr W – IOW --  30/4/06

Our system is now 20 years old – we are still enjoying the free heat and it must have paid for itself many times over by now – Mr D- Surrey – 28/4/06

We inherited a pool fitted with one of your Solarmatt systems when we moved to our villa - it’s still working brilliantly   -  Mr Y – South of France – 3/4/06

I have been meaning to phone you for some time now to tell you how delighted we are with the Solarmatt system you supplied us with last year. We have again hardly needed to use our gas boiler in spite of the mediocre weather this year and yet we were still swimming at pool temperatures around 28ΊC - 30ΊC for most of the summer. If anyone has any doubts about how well the Solarmatt works I would be more than happy for them to pay us a visit  - Mr R – (Gloucestershire) – 29/10/05

The Solarmatt lies around the pool which is in a Poly-Tunnel - we installed the system in April this year and have been swimming in the low 90’s for most of the time since early May - it’s just fantastic -  Mr S - (Essex) - 29/6/05

We’ve had our Solarmatt for over 20 years and pool temperatures are often in the high 80’s (88 right now) -  it’s just brilliant!  - Mr T - (Berkshire)  - 27/6/05

The solarmatt has been working really well with no problems since I installed it in 2001 - Mr P - (Dorset) - 16/5/05

Ref. the Solarmatt supplied for our Apollo Club pool in 2002 - for your information the system is still working well  -  Mr L - (Kent)  16/2/05

We often had the pool up in the 30s again this year in spite of the weather not being as good as 2003 - Mr G - Kent - 28/12/04

I have had your product installed for about six years and very happy with it. In the recent winter conditions stupidly I had not covered up the pipes from the pump up to the T piece with the two valves (inlet & outlet). The main up-pipe froze and the clear plastic non-return valve element shattered with the ice. The rest of it is quite ok but I need to replace the NR Valve can you give me a price for this please  -  Mr J – Hants.  -  27/2/09

Just thought you would like to know that we are just into our 3rd season, with only two minor repairs in that time (taking about 10 mins each time) and now 14th May our Pool is up to 84 - heated only by Solarmatt.  Mr P  - (Dorset)  14/5/08

Hello there,

No problem in recommending the system. Our pool is 10m x 5m, you can see the layout if you go onto Solarmatt's site, click on 'Our Solarmatt customers' and our pool is the first one at the top of the page with the decking around it. It's very easy to install and the beauty of it is that you can lay it as a path etc and walk on it - so much better than huge panels mounted on supports etc. We installed our pool in 2002 and even with a good summer, the max temp we had in Aug was 24Ί.  We installed the heating in Feb/March 2003 and in the middle of April we had 24Ί!!  In Aug we had approx 33/34Ί

Unless you have the misfortune to somehow puncture any of the tubes, there is no maintenance.

We always found the assistance from the company to be prompt and friendly and delivery was excellent.

Hope you find this helpful, I don't know if you fly over here or take the ferries but if you happen to dock at Roscoff then we are 45mins away and you are welcome to call in to see the installation as you pass.  Mr F – N. Brittany – 5/3/08

You may remember that you sold me a Solarmatt in 2003 for my indoor pool. I am pleased to say it has been a great success, aided by a method of gauging the differential input/output temperature (using two inexpensive digital thermometers from Maplins) in order to decide when to turn it off.  .  Mr R – Suffolk  -  3/11/07

The “C” Solarmatt and 500 grade Solar cover were both finally commissioned on the 1st of June 2007.

Within just one week, as you promised, the water temperature hit 29.6 C and for the next week or so, until this present wet weather set in, averaged just short of 31.0 C!! (30.98)

It is interesting to note that even after 3 inches of rain during the last 2 days, we still register over 25 C, and if the early June experience is to go by, after at most 3 days of sunshine we will be back to 30 C.  I use a Thermopen1 Thermometer from E.T.I.Ltd graded in 0.1 divisions, and accurate to + or – 0.1 C

Thank you once again for all your help on the phone; your patience is endless!

The system works very well, and please note the drain cover contains the switchover valves, a large stone soakaway beneath and a draindown valve for wintering (that being the lowest point in the system)  Please feel free to use my appraisal/photos in your literature if you require.  Mr R – Somerset  - 26/6/07

The pool always seems to be 7-8 C degrees above similar unheated pools and then it tracks the night time temperature. It has been steady at 28C for a while now hitting 31 at the end of a hot day. Excellent. Only drunkards and kids go in pools without a solarmatt !    Mr H - Cyprus – 28/5/07

We are delighted with our solar matt.  It has definitely increased the temperature by 10 degrees F.

The pool reached the heady heights of 90 F and we had to switch it off in the heatwave of July.  -  Mrs S – Somerset  - 12/8/06

Many thanks for your help - the set up is all installed with minimum fuss !  The instructions were excellent, and the telephone support reassuring - all I need now is some hot weather to begin to heat the pool.  Mr P – Dorset – 19/6/06

Thank you for supplying our Solarmatt A+ kit. We filled our above ground swimming pool three weeks ago and installed the matting with ease. The first week was very cloudy with an external air temperature of 16°C and the pool rose from 14°C to 18°C. The sun came out 10 days ago and the air temperature has risen steadily outside to the 24°C it is today. The water in the swimming pool has risen from 18°C to 29°C in the same period, increasing by one degree a day. We run the pump from 10am to 4pm every day and the water coming into the pool always feels warmer that the water already in the pool. All last year, even with air temperatures of 30°C, the pool water temperature never rose above 24°C. Solarmatt has made swimming outdoors in England a much more pleasant experience even in early June. The best part is that the heating is totally free once the Solarmatt is installed.  Thanks again - Mr K  - Hampshire 10/6/06

I bought 4 B kits off you in May 2004 and I used both sides of my garage roof which runs North/South. I am very pleased with the system, it was relatively straightforward to assemble with the only difficulty being my choice of site. It does not look obtrusive and provides good pool temperatures. We have had a maximum of 34 degrees on a few days but 27 – 28 is probably the norm during June July and August – Mr C – Kent –30/4/06

I installed one of your systems ready for last year as a replacement for my extremely expensive to run 11kW electric heater and I was very impressed. We maintained a temperature higher than we had achieved the previous year on electric, and during the warmer days we peaked at 340C whereas we only ever managed 280 with the electric heater. The weather is not so nice so far this year, but we are still keeping 23 to 27 and it’s now costing me nothing ( It cost me more in increased electric bills in the one year I used that heater than it did to buy and fit the Solarmatt system – If only I’d done it first! ). - Mr B -Cambridge - 14/6/05

Solarmatt installed and a raving success with the owner - Thanks. I've installed it on top of a pergola to make a nice shady walkway - see attached piccy - it can't be seen from ground level. I've put a digital thermometer in both the input pipe to the mat as well as the output  and on a bright but hazy day there is about 1 degree difference but on a sunny day (and lets face it, who goes in the pool on a cloudy day?) it makes about 3 degrees. With a decent cover, the pool is up around 22ΊC first thing and gets to a most comfortable 27Ί in full sun. In the picture, the mat is facing due SW. The mat is plumbed in with a bypass and isolating valves which enables the normal operation (as it was) if cloudy and when in use, the solar heated water feeds back into the system just before the heat exchanger/thermo-couple for the gas boiler. This means that early and late in the season, the Solarmatt will be giving the boiler a hand so to speak. Please feel free to use the pic if you like and thanks again for your assistance. -   Alan -Naturelle Pools - 26/5/04

Have just shut down the pool for the winter and remembered I said I would report back to you on how I had found the Solarmatt.

I would suggest it must have saved me £'s in electric units!!  The bill was about half of what we paid last year and we have had an extended session, mind you we have had a good summer.

The best temp achieved was 33deg during that hot spell in early Aug with no heating overnight with the electric.  We have achieved 27deg quite easily running the solarmatt from about 10am to 4 pm during the rest of the summer only putting the overnight heater on when the forecast was for a cool night - say below 15deg.   My 9Kw heater has never produced water from the outlet that you could truly say was warmer than the inlet.  The Solarmatt however quite regularly produced water noticeable hotter so it must be producing something far in excess of 9Kw.

As you can see I am quite pleased with the system now planning to lop some trees over the winter to let the sun on the roof for a little longer next year.

Finally you were right - there were a few days when someone said it was too hot !! - Mr B  - (Surrey) -  1/10/03
