THE HORROR / WAR ALL THE TIME split EP
on zandor records but i have loads of copies. North meets North . Fast furious proper angry uk hardcore punk by numerous 'ex members of.. 'blah blah blah blahwhatever.

This review doesn't need writing. If you're looking at a website that dabbles in hardcore and you don't know who the fucking Horror are, then you're beyond help and should shoot yourself in the face now. They're ex-Voorhees (heard of them?) with the singer from Imbalance (if you've not heard of them, that's understandable though equally if not more annoying) and play fucking great fast and shouty hardcore with a distinct rock 'n' roll feel as you might expect from old men who've been at it for years and should know better but luckily don't. Sweet. War All The Time win it for me though. Whereas The Horror aren't averse to chucking in the odd solo, have intros and outros and sometimes slip in some singalong bits, WATT are the purest hardcore hit I've heard in years. Stripped-down and to the fucking point, they really show how much can be done with so few ingredients. So utterly simple, so brutally direct, this is exactly what hardcore should be like. It's totally zen man. Plus is there a song about Thatcher in there? Jesus. Further proof that no one under the age of 30 (or should that be 40?!?!) should be in a band. - kunal, collective zine

BOXED IN - '2001 - 2005' Discography CD
37 slices of pure fury, everything we ever recorded, all 4 black vinyl records - the LP, 3 EP's, (the 1st ep is remastered) and compilation tracks, comes with booklet with lyrics, explanations and other junk, 'this band was made up of ex members of every band you saw in sweaty squats and pubs around the UK over the last 2 decades . Ferocious stuff lies within, the musical experience akin to being knocked about the face and neck with a hammer, with depressing lyrics about the world going down the pan, - utterly raging!
reviews: LP: High-powered hardcore from UK band Boxed In, Manic tirades with a whirlwind of guitar/bass/drums clamor and vocals struggling to be heard over the fray. Not too happy with the state of the world—“Too Many Dead,” for instance, discusses the inevitable deaths of innocent civilians (aka ‘collateral damage’) during warfare and that’s certainly been the case in Iraq, to name one recent conflict. Musically, inspired by the likes of SIEGE and UK forebears HERESY, RIPCORD , etc. Almost all fast ‘n ripping, except for the closing track “They Live Again" played at a sturdy, heavy pace and the effect is crunching. Aural devastation. (Suburban Voice) 1st EP: 'I saw these the other week and they blew my arse away! Boy, these are fucking hardcore - hardcore as it used to be played in the 80's. No metal / grind or new school trollop what-so-ever, this is simply fast thrashing in ya fuckin' face take no prisoners hardcorepunk. Bands like PANDEMONIUM, HEIBEL, LARM, BGK and the best of the best 80's hardcore bands can eat their hearts out, Boxed In are today's forerunners for 'real' hardcore! My fave band to come from these shores in a fuckin' long time. (Hell and Damnation) 2nd ep: Fucking hell, this is simply amazing fast-as-fuck, pure and simple unadulterated hardcore punk. Pissed as fuck, raw, blistering rage. Everything about this record is simply perfect - the drums, the guitar tone, the lyrics, the fucking Mellakka cover - fuck. Boxed In are a shining example of a band learning from and combining the finer elements of classic bands like Varukers, BGK, Ripcord and the like then taking it and creating something totally fresh and powerful.(?) 3rd Ep: 'This ep is their most powerful and angriest to date, totally solid quality non-stop fast 80s-style euro hardcore, everything is on eleven on these seven songs.' (Flo)
This is the final release for Flat Earth Recs, with help from Crime Scene, Fabric 77, Push Down and Turn.

PLEASANT VALLEY CHILDREN - Discography CD

Awesome damaged, Flag-influenced painjazzcore racket! everything we recorded on one handy disc.
Incredible twisted mindfuck music, thats what Sam Mc Pheeters said anyway, we need some review blurb here to let you know how good this is!
"Out of the barren wastelands of the late-80s/ early-90s, came PLEASANT VALLEY CHILDREN, unique both sonically and lyrically, a warped collision between early BLACK FLAG, early RUDIMENTARY PENI, and vintage BORN AGAINST. Included are some great critical reflections on the world around us, which are just as relevant now, as they were then. You’ve got one chance, and one chance only, to own everything this band ever did, or live in regret for eternity." Andy Shocker, PUNK SHOCKER FANZINE, briefly out of retirement

- includes:
'Fuck Kill Destroy' LP,
'What the World Needs Now' EP,
'Who Needs Love to Have any Fun' Tape,
compilation tracks and nuff unreleased extras - 40 songs, all remastered, 28 page booklet with cool artwork and writings.

JOHN HOLMES   'El Louso Suavo'  LP
" I'd heard JOHN HOLMES were pretty chaotic, but this is far from that, it's just the heaviest fucking metal around. Sure, it has plenty of twists, off-kilter inserts and even viciously funky bass runs, but at its core are just pure metal roots that have mutated into an incredible pummeling sound, packed with enough grooves and crushing power to floor you. The dual vocals alternately growl and scream the bleakest of lyrics, soaked in a bitter negativity that suit the sound of JOHN HOLMES to a tee.

KITO - 'The Long Player'  LP
"Flat Earth records have a reputation second to none where the provision of quality hardcore is concerned, and Kito are among the finest outfits to have risen in association with the label. Occupying the exact point where anarcho punk meets sludgecore, Kito unleash an unshakable barrage of guitars that pin you to the wall with the force of a 15 ton juggernaut. Rhythms come doused in brutality, riffs are delivered straight from the gut, and the whole thing is wrapped up so tightly it's a wonder the musicians aren't starved of oxygen. All of which adds up to one potent slab of vinyl."

DEEP TURTLE - 'peel sessions' MCD - £4ppd Formed in 1990, Deep Turtle was a product of the burgeoning underground music culture of the city of Pori, Finland. Deep Turtle's music fused the energy of hardcore punk, the harmonies of jazz, latin rhythms and experimentalism of progressive rock into a style, which was sometimes dubbed jazzcore or weirdcore by listeners and reviewers. Signature elements of the band's music were an abundance of uncommon time signatures; frantic and abrupt mood changes between soft jazz tones and blistering punk assault; nimble bass work providing a counterpoint to the guitar attack; and often indecipherable lyrics delivered both in Spanish and in English. Some comparisons have been made to bands like Cardiacs and NoMeansNo. Deep Turtle made Finnish music history by being the first Finnish band to be invited to do a John Peel session in 1994. Contrary to public belief, mr. Peel was not present at the studio, and he never managed to meet the band in person.
DOOM - 'RUSH HOUR OF THE GODS' (UK) reissue on violent change of the 1996 album originally on the ropey flat earth label - this time in a jewel case not a daft 7 inch package. Also has the tracks from split 10" w/ CRESS. remastered for this release by sir Bri of Doom, legends.
DRUGS OF FAITH (U.S) - and i quote: the power trio that is Drugs Of Faith breaks out with their debut official release, founded by an Enemy Soil original member, bashes through its hardcore rock fused with grindcore songs utilizing dissonant chords and opposition bass, frontal attack drums, and lyrics covering the personal as well as the political landscape brought out by dynamic vocals. Focused yet a challenge to categorize, Drugs Of Faith carpet bombs the listener with its innovative, stylistic mix. Mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer / Agoraphobic Nosebleed) at Visceral Sound.
Encyclopedia of American Traitors - self titled - Finally, the discography from this criminally-underrated New Jersy outfit. Fourteen tracks of ulta-political hardcore-punk the way it should be done. The music is brutal, ranging from blast beats to tribal-sounding breakdowns.
FUCKING CHAMPS - '3' (U.S) the champs are awesome, no discussion, and this is their best album in my humble opinion.
G-77 - Peine De Vie - With current members of acrimonie/cloudburst and ex finger print/undone) when catharsis meets reminds of the day, try it!!!
GERIATRIC UNIT - 'Nuclear Accidents EP" (UK) This is a new UK based band with ex-Heresy members. Q: What can you expect? A: Relentless, pounding UK thrash with a hoarse sounding vocalist. Not bad at all.
Pazahora - self titled (SINGAPORE) - This is pazahora's debut album and i have gotta admit this is a long way from the first time i saw them live. they still have that crust edge though it sounds a bit thicker now, with the ever increasing of dare i say it, D-Beat. they have also added another guitarist and i must say it is definitely working out for them. recording is totally done DIY through the vocals/guitarists bedroom recording. but it has this rawness that makes it all so special. savour this latest offering and the 8 tracks are all worth the dough. awesome effort by prohibited projects in getting this release out.
POUNDAFLESH - "Manifesto" (UK) a healthy dose of kinda simple, but always swift, straightforward and entirely urgent, wholly pissed off hardcorepunk which consists of a gruff singer who spits out gallons of venomous poison.
RETCONED - Simulant Skin Included (U.S) Atlanta-based band's debut CD. Helios Creed, Big Black and Crom-Tech fans will dig this.
Roach Motel - Worstest Hits - 20-song overview of the best these creeps had to offer. All tracks recorded 1981-1984. Includes live and unreleased songs and songs from both EP's and compilations.
Selfish - Cry For Love, Cry For Death - Finland's Selfish have been playing out, in one form or another, since the early 90's. Over the years their sound has changed from raw, d-beat crust akin to Doom and Extreme Noise Terror, to skilled and intricate, Burning Spirits styled hardcore, heavily influenced by Death Side and so many other Japanese bands. This full length compiles previously released, but currently out of print, tracks from two 7"s, a split 7", and various compilations. 12 tracks total, all remastered, with new, typically over-the-top, artwork from the highly talented Japanese artist, Sugi, and liner notes by founding member, Otto Itokonen, detailing the band history from its beginnings to present times.
SPAZM 151 (U.S) These Texans blaze through 13 tracks of fucking classic hardcore/punk in barely over 20 minutes with tons of energy and a great multi vocal attack. The songs are the perfect blend of pissed off hardcore and punk rock as well, taking the attitude and slight catchiness of the latter and blending it with the pure aggression and speed of the former. There's even a thrashy crossover feel in a couple of the tracks. Plus there are some totally reckless lead breaks to boot. You can't lose! They even close out with two raging covers: "Build Me a Bomb" by Jerry's Kids and "I Hate Myself" by The Offenders.
  Switchblade (swe)
THREADS (UK) Formed out of the despair of human living to counteract the grim realities of failed life, THREADS hit the scene like an Atomic bomb hitting Sheffield. Featuring ex members of such legendary UK bands as Boxed In, Health Hazard, Khang, Dead Wrong, Baby Harp Seal and Month Of Birthdays. The Threads sound is best described as what would have Deep Purple sounded like if Greg Ginn and joined them after Flag broke up. You get nine hard hitting stoner rock anthems played with a vicious punk bite not unlike fallen heroes Goatsnake.
To Die For - Virus Infection Control - Virus Infection Control is To Die For’s follow up to their split with Engrave on Defiance Records More violent, more metallic. For fans of Converge. Great recording, great artwork by Alain Hills.
UNHOLY GRAVE / LOGGERHEAD split CD
UNSUNG - 'Nail in the Hand of Christ' (ITA) One group that does not stop when faced with bariere taxes of musical genres. Looking for something to say while moving up purely territories and heavy metal. Slowdowns abrupt and sudden accelerations, moshate fears and grindate With all the words intelligent and personal. These are but only three percent make it! political words singed on earthquake of mosh/grind/heavy music! very heavy suond (wall of noise!)
Urbanos/Choke Cocoi - split - Two of the hardest working hardcore bands from opposite sides of the globe have teamed up with their best material, URBANOS (Argentina) lay 8 tracks of energetic late 90's NYHC inspired tunes with some south american flavour added into it. CHOKE COCOI (Philippines) unleash a barrage of some of the most ferocious and frantic female fronted hardcore punk tunes that will definitley jolt your senses! Proving that 3rd world hardcore punk scenes are alive and here to stay.
VOORHEES - 'The Final Chapter' (UK) -EP’s. This release compiles the now out of print split singles the band recorded between 1999- 2001 with Kill Your Idols, Out Cold and Radio Alice as well as the Bookburner EP. All the tracks have been remixed and remastered for this release by sir Atko. This is a must for all fans of vicious old school hardcore punk!
ZEROID - '2001 - 2002' (GER) From the ashes of Jeniger, Akephal and Asmodinas Leichenhaus comes this hamburg based bunch of crazy noise merchants. This was their first release, killer sound, heavy, intense and chaotic hardcore with a dark and gloomy feeling that absolutely doesn*t fit into the “easy listening” file. Fuck the clichés here are Zeroid. Packed in special heavyweight artwork. The second release from these brutal noise merchants. 8 killer HC songs in midtempo mayhem. Dark, hypnotic music which reminds of Uranus, Damad or Neurosis.Rough but fat production that pushes the stunning grooves and melancholic melodies that shine through here and there.
