My Gran & Grandad (Ernie Proctors) lived with with Samuel and Selina May for 12 months prior to moving to Oulton Low.
Selina was courting for 13 years when she became pregnant with Bertha and the man let her down.
After the death of Mary Jane Wilson she went as housekeeper to Samuel Proctor her uncle, and became pregnant with Olive by him.
Bertha had just taken her first steps when Selina bent over in front of the fire, her dress caught fire, she ran out of the house which increased the burning.
She died as a result of the burns.
