Who is Elsie Shephard, mentioned in the solicitors letter to Cissie on 28 March 1952?
She is Mrs. Shephard so she was obviously Elsie something prior to getting married.
In a letter about Clara Wade's will, unfortunately not dated, written by Jennie. Elsie is mentioned. Now it would appear that Elsie Shephard has a better claim to the estate than Cissie. Also mentioned in a letter to Cissie from Ethel Bassoon one time next door neighbour to Clara Wade, the solicitor Mr. Sorrell had advertised in the press for a Miss. Elsie Taylor, in regards Miss Wade's will. It would appear that Cissie and Mrs. Elsie Shephard answered the advert.
Now it would also appear that Jennie Witney (Lucy Ann's daughter) and Cissie have the same relationship to Miss. Wade, half nieces. Now surely to have more claim on the will than Cissie one would tend to think that Elsie Shephard was more of a blood relative. The only real scenario that fits this would be Ann Wade had another child, most probably a girl. This girl marries a Mr. Taylor and they have a daughter Elsie. She marries a Mr. Shephard. This daughter would be a full niece.
One must also realise that obviously in the will and subsequently in the advertisement it is MISS ELSIE TAYLOR who is mentioned.
Cissie was born a Crooks and only became a Mrs. Taylor by marriage, also her name is Mary Jane.
From the rumour I've heard Cissie did get some money but she shared it, only with the female "Crooks", so William and George missed out.
