constantly looking to see where he can take his beloved music next.

Wherever it may be it’s sure to be one hell of a ride!"

Michael Mee – Blues Matters! Aug / Sept ‘06

After fronting The Swamp Things for seven years, (who played with Johnny Mars, The Blues Band, Andre Williams, The Flaming Stars and The Country Teasers ), Slim left in 2003 to furrow a solo trail and readapt his blues. He released two CD’s, ‘Standing On The Banks Of The Mighty Blues’ & ‘Dust Bowl Soup’ (both 2004), but the lure of a full frontal sound soon led him to form a new spangled band, The Backbones. After hooking up with ex-She Said double bass player, Mark ‘The Knuckle ‘ Burns (for whom Slim also played for) he then drafted in his ol’ mucker, Chicken King Schultz on drums from The Swamps to mould a boot kicking power trio.

In recent times Slim has supported The Black Keys & William Elliot Whitmore & Jem Finer/DM Bob to favourable response, even incorporating a warped electro beat to flesh out his sound. Now he has the support of The Backbone boys to add to his wicked brew of manic blues, think of Muddy Waters with a dash of Beefheart washed down with a full bodied Fat Possum and your about there. Recently they have released a debut CD, The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea to demonstrate their intent. It announces itself with a tolling bell to warn of ,’ A Bad Storm A Coming’ and doesn't let up from there on in. If you like your blues unsophsticated and raw, this is an album for you, so watch out for The Boogie Man!
