If you need ask that question then my advice is you don't. You get a lot better at your skills, and you spend a lot more time on the disc getting to know the inner workings of the politics and who is who. Once you think you're ready (and you're not, I'll just let you know that now) then you can turn on your player killer flag. I'm not going to tell you how you do this, as by the time you are ready you should be able to figure it out for yourself.
I can offer you some hints on how to survive the PK world:Well I'm assuming you became PK because you knew people who were, or because you wanted to challenge yourself against other players.
Personally I like being PK for the added excitement of brawls. I know brawls aren't everyone's idea of a great time, but they can be very useful in discovering where abouts in the PK pecking order you fall. The only other ways to find out if you can kill another player is to ask them if they'd like to spar, or just to randomly attack them (not advised).
Brawls can happen at anytime, and can sometimes fade out quite fast if there isn't enough interest, so learning the skills needed to portal and getting a few blorps made to the common areas, being:However, brawls can spring up anywhere, and for any reason, so if you want to take part you'll need to know your way around almost all of the disc.
Sadly there is a guild for Thieves on the disc who are also allowed to go PK. They will take any chance they get to lighten you of your equipment. In Ankh-Morpork you'll be given a receipt, which you can take to the thieves guild to find out who stole from you. IMPORTANT: The guild takes a very dim view on people seeking retribution for 'clean' steals (if you only know who stole your item because of the thieves guild clerk, it's classed as a clean steal, sorry.), you may ask the thief if you can buy the item back from them, but it would be a bad idea to go over to the thief and kill them to get it back.
This may seem a little odd, but it's the way the disc works. The only real defence against theft is to never carry anything that someone else may want to take from you. That may sound like a bad option, so there are others open. You could pump xp into other.perception until you can see every thief and assassin on the disc when they are hidden, or you could ask a priest to ward your valuable items.
Warding takes quite a long time, and most priests don't enjoy doing it for people they don't know. this is where having made a whole bunch of friends is really valuable. The only ward combo I know which is of any use is paralyse-light. What this combo does is force the thief out of hiding, make it so none of the commands they type go through, and make it about ten times more difficult for them to hide. Once you know who they are from a ward they can't claim it was a clean steal and you can try various ways to get your things back.
A word of warning: If a thief stole from you, they either felt safe doing so (meaning they would probably kill you in a fight), or they felt sure of their skills (meaning that if you're not careful you could end up with no items at all).
Okay. What did I tell you earlier? Calm down, start taking deep breaths and thinking. Why did they kill you? If it was simply a random occurrence then it is probably best you chalk it down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If there was some other reason behind it then you might have a bit of a scuffle on your hands. This can be a fun aspect of the PK experience so long as they are even slightly evenly matched with you. If, however, you failed to take my advice and have been blasting your mouth off on the PK channel you have no one to blame but yourself. You will also be killed a few more times. I warned you not to, after all...
If you are civil then most of the time you will die because someone decided to random you. There is no reason to get on your high horse over this, it happens. The best way to handle it is to go, get yourself raised/ressed and come back get your stuff and watch the PK killing more people (you will be NPK for about 15 minutes, so you are safe from his attention for a while).
