He is a funny sort. He looks quite old, from his hair which is a frizzy ginger mop to his skin which is leathery in an honest way, like a labourer's after spending a life time working outdoors. He plods around with a quiet, humble air about him and could easily blend into a crowd.
Gelmir is an elf (I am very relaxed with regards the iron rule for practicalities sake) with a very strong glamour around him, making him appear to be an old, harmless man.
Of course he had to go through the UU to get a foundation knowledge of magic before he could become a Hedge Wizard and continue his studies in private, Gelmir doesn't feel any loyalty to the establishment where he had to keep his head down and spend a large portion of his time in the library and in classrooms to avoid excessive contact with the senior wizards who may have discovered his secret had he unwittingly given them reason to.
Stats: str 13, dex 18, con 8, int 18, wis 8.
Stat choice as a wizard is very difficult (hence why I wrote this).
I wanted Gelmir to rely more heavily on magic than on melee for both attack and defence, but didn't want my attack or defence ability to be too poor.
I made my wizard so that I could have a character who could cast EHA and TPA, as they were both spells which had been used to great effect on Sleeter in the PK world where a TPA can make the difference between winning and losing and EHA is nasty to walk into by accident!
I added EFF, JPoCT, AHSB, MGAGT, PFG and KOF to the list of spells which I wanted to cast and noticed an interesting trend with the spells I considered important - they use mostly the Physical and Mental parts of the magic skill tree.
A quick count gives the following figures:
| Elemental | 5 |
| Mental | 7 |
| Physical | 21 |
| Spiritual | 1 |
Which shows, for me and the spells I wanted to use, Physical (Int: 2, Dex: 3) was the most important skill, followed by Mental (Int: 5). Which worked well with my choice of melee skills as they are both dexterity heavy.
I went with 18 dex and 18 int so that my Mental and Physical trees would be as good as I could make them while allowing for 5 points to go into strength to allow me to wear a little armour and carry my components.
With this rearrange I was able to get casting EHA, PFG, KOF, TPA and EFF by two days of age and am still progressing rapidly.
So far the only down sides to my rearrange is the negative impact on my Offensive and Defensive spells bonuses, but I feel confident that with enough xp thrown at them I can get them to a reasonable level.

OTF, BHEE, and MGAGT take up 50 bonus points worth of mind space, but I feel that they are useful spells for a wizard to carry as they allow you to enchant items for yourself and for your friends. Also you can make a little bit of money from offering to enchant other people's belongings. Many players don't think that these services are useful and so don't keep the enchanting spells in their heads.
AHSB and SSS are used together to make blorps. I use SSS to write the location on the ring, but I then identify the ring as the location it goes to and make my alias based on that. When I lose my identifies I don't panic, I just go through them, read them and re-identify them. I normally do this as I need them (by taking out a ring at a time, reading it and identifying it until I have the ring I need for that trip. After a short while all the rings are re-identified).
The rest of my spells are directly related to xp farming.
I am really enjoying playing Gelmir at the moment and he has taken over as my main playing character. I will always 'be' Sleeter, but currently he has been left by the wayside while Gelmir rockets up the skill ladder.
Why did I choose the name 'Gelmir'? I want on an elven name generator and asked it for a list of male elf names. From that list Gelmir caught my eye and, as it wasn't already chosen, I took it as my own.
